I know we're not disrespecting one of the most successful and talented artists of the 2000s? The one with 9 #1 hits? The one with one of the most successful albums of the decade (a dimaond certified classic at that) that will be celebrating it's 20th anniversary next year?

Are we gonna sit here and pretend the halftime show is a slot for current artists only? Are we gonna pretend that Madonna was at her commercial peak when she did her legendary show? We gonna pretend JLo was in the middle of a career high when she was up there co-headlining with Shakira? Absolutely not.

The halftime show is for artists who've proven their salt, and there are few across the last several years that have proven themselves capable as much as Usher has.

The man has a hugely successful Vegas residency at the moment, is one of the most acclaimed performers of his generation (earning nods and praise from some of the absolute greats in the process), and has more hits than some more modern artists can ever hope to get.

I like usher but why are they doing a hip-hop/rnb artist for the 4th year in a row.

I would imagine because there for almost two decades, it was a genre that had been completely blocked from the show. They had relied solely on pop artists and classic rock, likely due to the fact that they didn't feel hip-hop/R&B would cater to the conservative football watching audience. Only in the 2010s when the halftime show really became a "for all" event did they even start to think about a little diversity in genres, and even then we didn't get a true hip-hop/R&b show until 2022. Before then we only got adjacent to those genres with artists who dabbled there but were primarily pop.

The people salty do not listen to Usher and wanted someone like Miley. Maybe if they listened to people outside of their scope of the 10 pop female acts they listen to, they would realize they have egg on their face.

Some of you didn't grow up in the 2000s and it shows. Usher was huge.

he has more number ones than most pop girlies today and hes an incredible vocalist and dancer.
