In 2013, Lady Gaga was in pain. Ten months into touring the world with her Born This Way Ball, the singer exacerbated a hip injury while performing in Montreal, causing her to cancel all subsequent shows and withdraw from the spotlight. What was reported as a labral tear was actually much worse. “Before I went to surgery, there were giant craters, a hole in my hip the size of a quarter, and the cartilage was just hanging out the other side of my hip. I had a tear on the inside of my joint and a huge breakage,” she said in an interview that July. “The surgeon told me that if I had done another show, I might have needed a full hip replacement.”

The songs are hooky and encompassing but not with the easy cheese of Katy Perry’s “Roar” or Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop,” and the lyrics about power and agency are shrouded in metaphor, unlike Lorde’s simple and sincere “Royals.”

Interesting! What makes you say that?

Imo 95% of people would rank Joanne in the bottom 3 of Gaga's discography, and most people are turned off by the toned down vibes and the "country" sound. Also 95% of people will agree that the music videos were disappointing except John Wayne.

95% of fans agree that ARTPOP isn't bad even tho it flopped while half of her fanbase left because of Jazz and Joanne

Fan opinion is not the only thing one needs to take into account when calling an album divisive. The opinion of general audiences matters as well. Fans are not the only consumers of music.

I feel like Joanne in fact is the least liked by the fans but the most intriguing and talked about is ARTPOP no doubt, which makes it the most divisive one imo.
