Should TCB do a Taylor-style theatrical release?

If anything I could see her doing a deal with apple, they send it to theaters in a limited capacity- still in major markets but only for 2 weeks and maybe only playing on weekends. They’d already have a streaming date so box office would be a moot point, similar to how all of their movies go. The more the strike goes on, the less content they’ll have to send to theaters so I could especially see this scenario if they need it.

I could only see maybe a theatrical release if it were in a very exclusive number of theaters in a very exclusive number of cities

I think this sounds reasonable. But it’s too bad, I would have liked to see a bigger theatrical push m, it would be fun to see this on a big screen.

I think you're right. Gaga and Taylor were contemporaneous artists, both hit fame about the same time, I think Taylor broke a little earlier than Gaga but that was due to the country radio thing. So in some ways, it would be really bad looking for Gaga fans if the TCB movie in the theaters flopped. Because of its less poppy appeal, darker themes, and striking brutal stylistic approach. It would immediately be compared with Taylor, especially if it doesnt do as well as little miss Plausible Deniabilty -- excuse me, Miss Americana herself. 

Streaming would spare Gaga the comparisons with the younger Swift.

I mean Taylor is in her own league. Nowadays artists are flopping, compared to her. Of course those deals are aiming for the big money, as we saw how expensive a tour film can cost(10-20 million for 3 nights in Taylor’s case). I’m certain they won’t aim for a theatrical release( not worth it. It’s been a year, there’s no hype).

Literally, the Deadline article about Eras tickets has a screen image from Cats. It's a part of overall box office.

I dont think Gaga has that type of pull for a theatrical release when it involves her music career. She has the pull for films of course but idk about a tour thing. I think  she should work out a deal with one of the top streaming services and release it there. Hopefully not Apple TV since no one uses that tbh...Netflix is the best in terms of reach but idk if they will give her a good deal or not.

I don’t think anyone should compare Taylor to anyone else at this point, but you’re right that comparisons will inevitably arise. I just wondered if even regular good box office would be fine. Maybe stans would drag her for not being able to compete with Eras but everyone reasonable knows that that is an unfair comparison. I thought Gaga could have a cute little hit and ride off of the energy and appetite for concert films in the wake of Eras.

It’s true tho, there is no hype for TCB at this point.

Beyond the monster fanbase, I do not think Gaga has the demand for a theatrical release anymore. Perhaps that will change in the future.
