The structure, known internally as Project 42 and described as a house for Elon, is being investigated by the U.S. Attorneyās Office for the Southern District of New York, which is seeking information about how much was spent on the project and personal benefits paid to Musk According toĀ WSJ, Muskās on and off girlfriend,Ā Grimes, and friendĀ Kanye WestĀ were consulted on the project. TheĀ Journal also reported in JulyĀ that Tesla board members had investigated whether company resources were misused on the effort. A company order for millions of dollars worth of specialized glass reportedly led to concerns among some in the company who did not know the orderās purpose. The Securities and Exchange Commission has opened a civil probe.
