AMC Theaters said Friday that the singer’s Eras Tour concert movie “shattered records for single-day advance ticket sales revenue,” with $26 million of tickets sold on Thursday. It beat the previous record holder, “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” which sold $16.9 million worth of tickets in one day ahead of its release in 2021, AMC said in a statement. https://www.cnn.com/2023/09/01/business/taylor-swift-movie-amc-presales/index.html Obviously the movie won’t be as big as a Marvel film but I bet Disney execs are pissed because it won’t be easy reclaiming that record. This is a very limited release and she only has 1 IMAX and 1 Dolby showing a day per theater. She’ll see great first day and first week numbers but that’s probably it.
