I really don’t like it, Doja is such a visual artist and the cover is too plain, too empty, especially compared to Demons single cover which’s so original and cool. The red/scarlet color being absent does not connect it to the era

I'm pretty sure Scarlet is the alter ego, not just a color theory colors=emotions type thing. Who knows if we'll get some association with spiders down the line.

Also, really hoping for a vinyl. Pre-orders are live but only for CDs. So I'm just a bit worried.

vinyl probably won't be ready on the release date so there's no point in putting something in the store that won't be counted toward the first week.

Do you think they will come eventually? Or only if ready by release do vinyls come?

For her last album the vinyl release was a mess. It came out a year later and ended up only being black, which is fine but a lot of people thought we were waiting for variants. Lil Nas X’s Montero still hasn’t had a vinyl release after he said it was coming. Most recently Sza had a really odd vinyl release too, where her fans knew the mock-up was ready yet a preorder didn’t happen until months after the release. Even then it was still only 1 variant. Honestly, it’s making me think this is a big example of Black artists not getting the same support from their labels and management. Three big deal albums that didn’t get bigger physical releases is really odd to me. They are all under Sony Music though (RCA, Columbia) so that could be a reason.

doja is so unoriginal. new video slaps but something about her just screams referenced referenced always, even the way she raps now is soooooo taken from slowthai, like anything she puts out make me think of something i know

well done but

its like she flirts with any aesthetic and in the end nothing really owns her at all

shes so different than any of the the female rappers though...... i mean nicki cant land a hit without it being a sample - thats the epitome of unoriginal

i mean that prob translates their background, where they come from. they both do really different things. i think nicki does has a lyricism and unique flow, im not sure sampling is unoriginal as long as the final piece works and stick to you, u feel me?

i feel doja comes from a more artsy bougie background and doesnt really own anything she pulls

also, im not sure any comparaison needs to be made really as they both are very different in their approach.

i feel doja just relies too much on trends and underground - one day shes a cat the other shes a spider, its cool but she doesnt really have a speech behind, its just cool

So far I like the new songs, especially Paint The Town Red. This song is on my mind.

Vino cu noi în bucătărie, adu cu tine și o farfurie.

what is the problem with sampling?? Doja's "Paint the Town Red" samples Dionne Warwick "Walk On By"
