He knows he's winning swing states promptly BECAUSE those voters hate Trump. Embracing Trump is why Reps have been underperforming since 2018. And no, a president can't pardon state crimes. It's not within their power. It says right there in the constitution: "...he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment." Which nearly every legal institution interprets as federal crimes only (crimes against the country, not crimes against the state or smaller/more local districts). Trump could hypothetically be pardoned for a lot of the charges against him by the DOJ/special counsel by Biden (but Biden would never do that and I doubt even a Republican president would) but the charges being brought against him by the DA of Georgia (and Arizona, though idk if those are properly filed yet) are state charges and the president of the US can't touch them.
