Well, yeah, that's one factor. But it's also that MJ was the most well known name aside from Jesus Christ

Couldn't even go to remote villages without people knowing who he was. I think, even with the Internet, nobody will reach those levels of worldwide notoriety again.

Oh yeah that kind of thing is kinda dead because the monoculture is dead. 

Taylor is the closest anyone has yet come to the same level of hysteria, but the age of the internet has changed how celebrity works. There is no one celeb people rally around today. The hype she has is massive and none of her peers are touching it, but it’s literally impossible to have one central figure anymore. Culture is just too spread out now.

Funny how she can go with the HAIM sisters on the street with no one bothering her and yet here we are at a wedding where she suddenly has crowds.

Did anyone else ever stop and think if this is yet another part of her and her teams marketing strategy to make her out to be as big as Michael Jackson because that narrative spreads and gives her the attention? Like, I'm sure if she were on his level of fame there would be NO PLACE where she could go without crowds yet there's this wedding and then there's her strolling down the street with HAIM and no crowds. 

Looks like a PR stunt mixed with her fanbase. Adele sold twice as much as Taylor's biggest first week ever with 25, had a record-breaking song at #1 at the same time and shattered YouTube records with her Carpool Karaoke and even she didn't have crowds surfacing like that 

Why? Because her team wasn't into making her out to be the new MJ since it wouldn't be natural. 

Also, MJ would've caused this stir anywhere in the world. Call me when Taylor goes to Europe and has a bigger frenzy than Gaga at her peak.

No she's not. The Backstreet Boys shut down Times Square once and there are photos of massive crowds in front of their hotel from 20 years ago. This could very well be her team and herself (we're talking about the same girl who was calling the paparazzi's to take photos of her and Harry Styles) who planted that seed of that wedding because it sells. 

If One Direction or ****ing Justin Bieber did that back in their hey day you'd think they wouldn't have these crowds? 

There are celebrities that give out their locations when they've left them (Beyoncé, Adele, Gaga) and then there the ones telling people where they are while they're there (Taylor). 

The closest to MJ you'll ever get is someone who sells sh!tloads of one album, sells out stadiums, has huge back-to-back #1 smashes and causes a stir everywhere in the world. That ain't Taylor. 

She is however the closest thing to a boyband frenzy, that's for sure.

I'm very curious to see how people in Europe react. Europeans and Asians always go way harder for Gaga than the US itself.
