Why hasn’t Gaga worked with Ryan Murphy anymore?

I’ve been sat today reminiscing about AHS: Hotel and how much love and admiration Gaga had for Ryan around helping her kick start her acting career. Then after her small role in Roanoke she just… stopped talking about him and working with him. 
 

I remember distinctly back before AHS Apocalypse happened that he wanted her character from Roanoke to be in Apocalypse and recently I’ve noticed that Kim Kardashian’s character is giving big Gaga energy in all the promotional material. 
 

does anyone have any thoughts or do we have like hard evidence why she no longer works with him or even speaks about him anymore?

As we saw in 5F2 I think her experience with Roanoke soured the whole thing for her and kinda encouraged her to not come back. They seemed disorganized that season, and it makes sense as I believe that season began the real downfall of AHS

I don’t think there’s any bad blood between them. I think what it comes down to is after AHS she started getting a lot more offers sent her way and she decided to level up to movies instead of TV.

She could have stayed in the Murphyverse and had an acting career on par with Sarah Paulson or Emma Roberts, which is nothing to sneeze at. But now she’s leap-frogged into movie stardom alongside the likes of Margot Robbie or Gal Gadot, which reaches a wider audience, more accolades, & bigger checks. 
 

I think she’ll work with Murphy at some point again, but it will have to be a really exciting, splashy project to get her on board.

I wouldn't think it's some big thing. She just hasn't had THAT many acting roles and probably wants to branch out and work with lots of different people and do different things

If she were a full time actress (filming 2+ roles a year) I think she inevitably would work with him again. But since it seems she’s still trying to balance everything out career wise, one role every 2-3 years reduces the opportunities to have consistency when it comes to playing the same role or working with the same directors over and over. That’s why I highly doubt she’d return for a Joker 3 like some rumors have started.

Based on what we saw from Five Foot Two, things were a little messy on set, then she started working on A Star Is Born, Vegas residency, Chromatica, pandemic, Love For Sale, House of Gucci, Joker 2, etc. Thankfully she's been doing other projects, not just staying in the same place. I don't think they're in bad terms or anything but who knows.

She's one of the top four or five female movie stars in the world right now. I don't think now is the time to return to TV unless it's a near perfect project. And Murphy's stuff is really hit or miss these days.

Agreed. I don't think there's any beef but more that Gaga is focusing on other projects.

And apparently AHS has improved recently so maybe she'll be back once she has time?

AHS was once prestige television, critically and commercially successful. The show has declined in quality these last few seasons, and many viewers and critics have turned on it. It’s also become a little watered down with the addition of “stories” in my opinion. I could see gaga starring in a limited series by Ryan in a long while when her acting career slows, but for now I think she’ll only be in big movies (as she should)

It hasn't and will probably end after 13th season (the last they have renewed it for), which is next year. So most likely she won't be back

I believe they also had production collaboration projects right after her work on AHS but it never happened neither.

It's hard obvious that something happened and they're on bad terms, just like with Bradley Cooper, Ridley Scott, RedOne, DJWS, Mark Ronson etc, since she hasn't worked with them in a while 

Seriously, she can't possibly work with everyone all the time. She wants to try different things and it's great, let her do her thing.

I don’t think there’s any bad blood with her and Ryan, and their doors are probably both open to each-other. 

I think Gaga will always appreciate the opportunity he gave her with Hotel, and I think Ryan Murphy loves to incorporate celebrities into his shows, and is grateful she agreed to work on it. He is a champion of allowing actors a chance. 

Countless actors have had their acting debut, their acting resurgence, their acting comeback thanks to Ryan Murphy. I don’t think that’s lost on either Gaga or Murphy. 

At the moment, it seems as though Gaga is going for traditional leading lady; a classic movie star. 

Gaga is in a rare position in that she can be incredibly choosy with the roles she takes, but still be a box office draw. That is very rare in todays film world.
