You'd think he'd be a little more sympathetic to their situation given his own family came to NY from immigration. I live in a pretty nice neighborhood in NYC, with several hotels nearby housing immigrants currently, and there has been ZERO change to the streets and safety of the neighborhood. Knife 6,949 Posted August 11, 2023 Share Posted August 11, 2023 This isn't an issue about the legality of the immigrants; he's complaining that NYC, which is currently under strain due to a heavy influx of migrants that they're unable to house, so many of them have ended up on the streets while waiting for assistance. Instead of complaining about the immigrants ruining your neighborhood, maybe be a part of the solution and aid in their assimilation. He explicitly only ever calls them migrants. The article screenshot shared only ever refers to them as migrants. The article itself only ever refers to them as migrants. *You* alone made an assumption on the status of the migrants being discussed. *You* alone made partisan political assumptions on the basis of your personal bias that the migrants discussed had to be illegal. So for your information - these are LEGAL migrants being housed because of a NYC ordinance that housing be made available for the homeless. These LEGAL migrants are awaiting full processing. None of them are illegal. Joe was at no point commenting on illegal immigration. He's just a racist, making unsupported attacks on non-whites. We are constantly getting bombarded now with politically charged content online that is pulling us to hate each other. Constantly trying to characterize the other as degenerates and wrong. And let’s me honest, it’s mostly conservatives that peddle propaganda. Liberals/progressives may respond strongly to reactionary policies and stretch truths to make their points, but conservatives have a FULL ON, MULTI-TIERED propaganda apparatus that has been in full swing since 2018. My best friend got hooked in by the Qanon bullshit even though she is pro-LGBT but also on the spiritual side and it’s been difficult to have any political conversations with her because she’s convinced democrats are satanists and Trump was trying to save America . The issue is how has been using his daughter's name to gain attention to his right wing views. He could simply insist that any interview just refer to him as Joe Germanotta, NYC resident and business owner. He is well aware that no one would bother. Whatever kind of person he was in the past, he is becoming a father lacking integrity and care for his daughter. A daughter who is not just famous but with such a kind and loving heart. What kind of a father would do this? Without even considering the content of his interviews, the fact that her father would use her this way is incredibly hurtful. I always assumed people refer to homeless/houseless people as migrants. Isn't he expressing frustration with the increased crime/noise/drug use? Please correct me if I'm wrong!
