I've always found these comparisons really pointless. They're totally different, like yes Beyoncé might have the moves, the voice, the songs and the production but Taylor has dumb fans that will eat anything up. Each have their strenghts.

A new report finds that high-achieving students prefer Taylor Swift, so actually, Taylor fans are very smart. In fact, most fans I know in real life are people with high-paying jobs and responsibilities. The Beyonce fans though...

I mean…you can feel how you feel but if we’re going off of reviews, correct me if I’m wrong, but Taylor has yet to have the run of critical music acclaim Beyoncé had from self titled through now (good reviews just not like seismic like the last few have been for Bey). Even the gift got really nice critical review (just not commercial juggernaut status like hoped).

again correct me if I’m wrong I could be, but I can’t think of someone in the main pop game really making critically acclaimed stuff like Beyoncé last few have been.

The difference here is that Taylor writes and composes her music, and Beyonce just listens to demos written, composed and recorded by other artists and picks between the songs. Beyonce has albums with 62 unique writers, she's just the face of an army of people working behind the scene

Yeah but they said had better music not who wrote more lmao I personally don’t care about that rat race bc it’s very silly and a very narrow way of looking at creativity and songwriting traditions. I see it as each do what works for them. But to the point of “better” music I was just pointing out that from a critical sense I don’t think that’s wholly true? I’m fine being proven wrong, I don’t really care I’m just saying that if we’re saying better like it’s some objective metric, the best metric we have to go off of I think says the contrary.

also that’s super dismissive to say she’s just the face of it. Like girl please don’t dismiss a woman’s work just bc you don’t personally see the value in it. The style she works in of assembling people, piecing together the work of others to make a cohesive vision is nothing to scoff at. It’s different than traditional songwriting, but it’s hard as **** to do well as we can see by sooo many bad pop albums from people who genuinely are just the face of the thing. Beyoncé’s style of making art is actually quite interesting if you are willing to expand your idea of how art can be made. It’s very limited to view art as a lone activity exclusively and I think keeps you from seeing how much cool art is out there

There are many clips from Beyonces new tour where shes showing low energy and barely moving. I never thought id say this, but Taylor gives a better performance overall on her Eras tour.

that was at the start of her tour, but with each date she got more into the groove. Her USA tour is much more energetic than the EU leg... (I guess the crowds are also a factor here :ladyhaha:)

Say whatever about her dancing or vocals, but in songwriting and storytelling she's simply THE BEST. As for co-writers, she wrote Back To December, Enchanted and the whole Speak Now album solo. She can and does write amazing songs by herself. And co-writers doesn't mean help with lyrics only. Help with melody also qualifies for co-writing.

I personally believe her lyrics are average and overrated by her fans (shocking), maybe for compensating others artistic traits but yeah "the best" is excessive, for example I see many others artists such as Mariah Carey as greater songwriters and composers, her work should be more recognise in comparaison imo

Lana's lyrics are eating Taylor's lyrics for breakfast.. Lana is storytelling, Taylor is dear diary today I broke up with my boyfriend *sad face*

Bey's lyrics in Renaissance are mostly fun and not so deep, but in self title and lemonade there was some growth and deepness and again, better than anything Taylor could ever write.

@Teletubby I complimented Bey, gimme a prize

i don't think she writes her own songs so no prize:wtf: she often gets songwriting credits for harmonies, adlibs..

duo Nova Wav are credited as writers on eight songs on Renaissance, they said she shares her vision.

even that "Becky with the good hair" from Lemonade wasn't her idea

Taylor being a great songwriter is such a joke like... are we reading the same lyrics and hearing the same melodies and production? Cause her writing sounds like a 15yo writing 'poems' after class :air:

Fan interaction doesn't make for a better artist but sure I'll give her that

to be fair I think most of us haven't found the thing that resonates from her yet. So she's had 17 years now to grow out of being the country pop girl. I for one, found a smooth jazz torch song with killer saxophone. she sings the heck out of that song and the lyrics resonate with me. So even though I initially couldn't stand her, all these years later I have found some things about her that I like. And Reputation is basically like Taylor's Fame Monster. it's incredible. There's always something to relate to.
