Lana Del Rey at Muscle Shoals Sound Studios in Alabama

Last Friday afternoon Lana Del Rey showed up unannounced at Muscle Shoals Sound’s famous 3614 Jackson Highway address in Sheffield, Alabama, part of the multiple-city Shoals area.

She was given a tour of the studio, where artists like The Rolling Stones, Staples Singers, Rod Stewart and many others cut classic tracks.

Then that Friday evening Del Rey returned to the studio by herself to do some recording.

She returned Sunday night to continue the sessions, during which three or four songs were recorded. 
Muscle Shoals Sound called in local keyboardist Will Allison to record with Del Rey.

I've never fully understood Lana but as a casual fan it's fascinating to see her embrace method acting for her next project. Really immersing herself in the white trash culture. Ride video 2.0?

I can't find the receipts, but somewhere Lana said that she would hinting at her next project through this current era. During her festival tour her backdrops were using footage from the AKA era, wearing short BLONDE wigs, etc. In a 2014 interview, she said she lived in Alabama with a boyfriend (though that isn't confirmed).
