A few years ago in 2017 I made a thread about whether fans preferred Heavy Metal Lover or Bloody Mary and it remained pretty equal until a few hours in with HML winning 55% to 45% for Bloody Mary. A similar thread was created back in February with Heavy Metal Lover winning 65% to Bloody Mary's 35% which is a sizable difference. Has Bloody Mary's popularity messed with your feelings about the song? To take this topic another step, can you think of other movies/songs that may be affected by popularity or lack of it?

Threads I mentioned if you wish to look at them:

Not me personally (in this case anyway) but a lot of people are sheep yes, and the example you gave is the perfect one of it. BM has always been appreciated and loved by fans but all of a sudden it goes viral and you'd think there were no other songs on the album.

Yes, in some ways. I like to think about the psychology of what draws people in. Something that is organically popular clearly has some quality that makes it special, especially if it has mass appeal. That interests me and makes me want to experience it, as it likely will appeal to me as well and won’t be a waste of time.

Take for example the movie Titanic. To this day it’s still considered a masterpiece, with the popularity to back it up.

Now in terms of social trends, I usually just do my own thing, as they’re often fleeting popularity.

Been a cuff touple, a puff bupple, a tough couple of years.

Not really. I guess it might have some impact but it really hardly ever happens that I dislike something just because it's popular.

Well actually I don't think that ever happens to me. I always get super confused when people seem to hate a certain song JUST BECAUSE it's a single.
