No, they really don't. Mostly just the people grasping for every excuse to veer into far-right territory and finding a goldmine in another protest that isn't a quiet, clean kumbaya circle they can ignore. The tired "wHaT iF iT wAs yOu???" approach has already been used here by the way. Remember what they say about assumptions 🥳

There is nothing "tired" about being able to empathize with the people that are actually being damaged by these protests. And there is absolutely nothing far-right about not wanting innocent people's lives being ravaged by goalless violent adolescents. It's easy for you to have this holier-than-thou attitude if you choose to remain ignorant on the topic.

You weren't empathizing by assuming my position on this if I were personally affected.

Your strawman argument against having a reich-y attitude doesn't hold up when you only used your words in "supporting innocent people" by calling protestors uncaring and animalistic.

It's easy for me to have a holier-than-thou attitude when I'm talking to someone dehumanizing protestors and wrongly assuming I'm ignorant on the topic.

Beside the dummies who steals apple stores as if we can not track their item's locations, there are videos showing people stealing groceries.. mothers stealing food, enough for some days..  I think it speaks volume by itself on real main issues.

Spoiler

When i go to the nearest shop and i see a bottle of 1L olive oil at 8€ as if its normal (it was the cheapest) how long the government gonna pretend that the raise of prices is the results of war in Ukraine and not just being normalized ?

Why would I need to empathize with you when you very obviously are not empathizing with the actual victims? I didn't need to wonder if you were personally affected because if you were, you wouldn't jump to the defense of criminals.

If you can destroy innocent people's property and livelyhood and endanger their lives while doing it, that's unethical regardless of the cause you are doing it for. To call these people uncaring would be an understatement and animalistic would be a more accurate description.

There's a difference between protest and ransacking for the sake of sensation.

The reality is that the vast majority of these protestors don't give a rat's ass about what happened to Nahel. They saw the perfect excuse to act like beasts and ran with it.

It’s like these people aren’t even aware of the damage they are really causing. I keep seeing people trying to deflect from this argument but IMO it’s objectively indefensible and irresponsible to destroy innocent people’s property. It’s not even just people’s personal possessions; those stores that are being looted have owners and employees in it which are going to be responsible for the damage and the lost products and it’s messed up. I genuinely don’t understand how this is ‘alt-right’ way of thinking, nobody’s claiming the cause of these riots is the problem, it’s what these likely disingenuous protesters are causing that’s bad.

Well, since 2021, food consumption in France has dropped by more than 20% (which is something that never happened here probably since WW2) as food inflation increased at more than … 20%

There is a real issue that’s been overshadowed by the extreme violence of these riots. Also France has been in turmoil since the beggining of the year with the massive protests over the pension reform. Macron is playing with fire by minimizing what’s happening in the country, if another crisis happens, things might get serious and it’s def not looking good.

I agree, him and his government prefer to act like there are no problems and keep doing their business behind our backs. The complete disconnection will be on the edge next year, Paris Olympic games.. i don't think he realises how bad of an idea it was, its gonna be a shitshow

People simply acknowledging that violence, arson, theft and vandalism aren’t justified in order to bring awareness for the actual problem isn’t ‘alt-right’ at all. Alt-right wouldn’t be supporting the cause in the first place, something I haven’t seen anyone in this thread do.

There are other ways.

I don’t understand your comment.

It’s been explained multiple times in this thread why the actions that are taking place during these riots are objectively harmful and have consequences for innocent people. People’s safety and businesses are at risk because of it.

I haven’t seen anyone say that the cause of the riots isn’t a valid one, nor have I seen anyone say there shouldn’t be some form of protest at all. All I’m trying to say is that this is simply not the way. No one has forgotten or is dismissive of the actual problem at hand.

These are rioters, not protestors.

There’s a substantial difference. Protesting is fine but if must be civil and shouldn’t bring harm or damage others.

If anything, these rioters share more in common with the alt-right Trump fans that stormed the US Capitol in how they express their views by going above the law.

And sadly, all this will actually hold the real protestors back in getting what they want.

I disagreee with your last sentence and I find the whole "there are other ways" patronising and upsetting, specially knowing the context in France

I'm mad at this thread bc the focus is on burnt cars and a few business being looted. I'm not downplaying it, but it is indeed minimal compared to what the police have done to this child and so many others for years (and is doing to the rioters/protesters rn). Businesses have insurance, the lives of young POC in France do not.

to show more concern or dismay over this is indeed, for me, proof of complacency in the face of police violence and racism. in any case, to turn this thread into a conversation about "how these People don't understand anything and are using the wrong techniques to assert their right" (hardly an exaggeration, it's the thread's subtext) is extremely ignorant and stupid. this is not the conversation we should be having rn.

FYI it's the deflecting techniques used by the right to sidestep the problem and legitimize extreme right-wing theories, just like after G. Floyd in the US.

idk if people here deflect it intentionally or not (some sure are), I'm just flagging it bc I can

not talking about u specifically tho I didn't even see what u posted or anything you just quoted me so
