TheBadRomancer 949
I do think that philanthropic work can get performative and maybe she doesn’t want that. HOWEVER, I didn’t really think about this until I started working somewhere where celebrities show up and do stuff and the downside of that is that the organization also doesn’t get the publicity. Halsey did some stuff for my org which was okay (mid honestly) and didn’t post anything about it and we kind of felt like that was a missed opportunity. Like yeah, I wish I could help causes but I do have to live so I can't afford giving money that I don't have. A rich person donating 1M$ when they win millions of dollars and makes millions every years is like you're donating 1$. Do you think those people even donated $1 though? Or do you think they just wanted to get on the internet and complain? It's pretty easy to write emails/letters/make phone calls to legislators for free as well. What I'm saying is that people were quick to jump on Gaga for not posting about Pride month, but the most they've likely done for LGBT rights this month might be a complaint post and maybe a Pride concert. Gaga has always supported the community and I thought we knew she likes to do things quietly, yet people unjustly jumped on her and I can see they're all pretty quiet now. River 106,918
Not everyone can donate money, it's a fact, many people needs every single $1 they have, so please don't judge, you don't know the economical situation of the person behind the screen. If you can't donate money, you can help in other ways, for example: 1. Donate your old clothes to an LGBTQ+ shelters and especially for Trans shelter, they need clothes all the time, many of them can't afford clothes. 2. If you have some extra food left and it's still fresh and edible, instead of throwing it to the garbage, put it in a nice recyclable food boxes and giveaway to LGBTQ+ shelters. 3. If you know about a group of LGBTQ+ with disabilities, you can go for a visit and form new friendships, you can give a hour or two once a week/2 weeks/a month, it doesn't matter. 4. Be part of the pride organizations in your city, it's fun, you can control how much time you want to give to the organizations. And there are many other ways to help His fart felt like a kiss
Yoha 68
There is an old saying in my country that you don't look at what a person says, but what they do. and Gaga did both.
