My friend who lives in Orlando just sent me this link.....! I'm kind of surprised Gaga doesn't tweet about the work BTWF does more often (and I'm more surprised stans do not, tbh). Although maybe stans do tweet about it....I'm mostly off stan twitter so I could have missed it.

BTWF does a lot of really great work. I recall a year or so ago they gave a bunch of substantial grants to Nevada area public schools, too, to establish mental health care counseling.

I wonder how much the Little Complainers donated to LGBT causes during pride month

People keep saying the foundation does nothing, but that’s bc they don’t dig into it and look into what they do. They do a LOT behind closed doors, fund a lot of places and give money to a lot of people. There’s been (if I’m not mistaken) a few LGBT Influencers and celebs who directly thanked Gaga for helping them in times of need bc of the foundation

Not trying to be rude or anything but this is a weird take. Like yeah, I wish I could help causes but I do have to live so I can't afford giving money that I don't have. A rich person donating 1M$ when they win millions of dollars and makes millions every years is like you're donating 1$.

Yeah, but this argument also ignores the fact that donating something like $1M is still a lot of money, regardless of how much money the donor earns.

And yet, so many millionaires / billionaires *dont*, if you make a bunch of money, you can buy bigger and more expensive things, which is mostly all they will ever do with it. It's not like they are living like normal people with a bunch of extra money sat doing nothing. Rich or not - donating to a cause is something admirable.

I get you, but this post obviously wasnt about someone like you, some people live on a VERY high horse on what others should do without any thought of doing something themselves

And while I appreciate that and I'm thankful 'cause I know not everyone with money will do the gesture of donating, at the same time you can't blame regular people of not helping while praising a rich one 'cause that amount of money for them is like you paying a friend's coffee at breakfast.

I think maybe her thinking is that she doesn't want to make it about herself, but I wish she would draw a little more attention to the work they do because I feel like people outside the fanbase don't even know about BTW foundation

Yeah, she does seem to be very sensitive about the way that her celebrity could potentially eclipse any advocacy she might try to do for others, but I'm glad she found a way to express solidarity while also spotlighting actual queer folks.

I completely agree (and this is targetted at you, I doubt you did) But it reminded me of HOW MUCH fans complained about her posting about BTWF constantly, I imagine now her thinking is to let the work speak for itself - if you only ever hear about the foundation when you yourself are the one being supported by them, that is still a massive deal. Also it's getting it's funding naturally through haus Labs purchases ($1 per item I believe) so she really can just let it do it's thing at this point
