I wouldn't say it's a big departure from her earlier work, though, which seems to be how its been built up. Her songwriting is definitely getting more mature, so I see where the claims that this is a big step up and where she's coming into her own. I must say, it's a big risk for such a young artist with such young fans to make songs with such strong swearing in them as it might put parents off buying albums and concert tickets for their kids, but clearly it doesn't seem to be hindering her much.
