Google has dropped its sponsorship of a San Francisco Pride event after hundreds of employees signed a fiery petition lashing out against it.

The tech giant sponsors a series of LGBTQ+ events across the US annually, and this year the headline event was due to be a 'Pride and Drag Show' at Beaux gay bar featuring popular performer Peaches Christ.

But employees noticed Google removed the San Francisco show from its internal events page after a petition was launched opposing the event on religious grounds, according to memos seen by CNBC.

Signed by a few hundred people, the petition claimed that Peaches Christ's performances routinely sexualize and disrespect Christian values - while accusing Google of religious discrimination for sponsoring the act.

Yes, by all means. Let's avoid criticizing an organization that aided and abetted decades of child abuse and which advocates against condoms, safe sex, and reproductive health rights. Ooooh, noooo. How can we possibly stand for such critique? It's almost as if it is deserved.

Controversiaga

The amount of progress LGBTQ community has made in society is really showing because now the conservatives are afraid we will continue to grow and change the world so they’re fighting back.

our fight is stronger though and we will win!!!

Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga”

Historically it’s been easy to mock companies for “empty support” by just putting rainbows on their logos and sponsoring pride events. But now we’re seeing companies retreat from openly supporting Pride and it’s very telling and a bit frightening. If nothing else, companies during Pride set a tone of encouragement and normalizing queer support, but now that they’re backing out more frequently, I fear the tone is shifting and we are slipping back out of the mainstream. It is becoming more common once again to not publicly support queer communities. It’s a bigger deal than it seems

I believe when RichAssPiss said "an organization", he meant the Christian church (not Google). Which confused me, too, since that's not a singular organization. But substitute the Catholic church, the Mormon church, etc., as needed.

Google should not have budged. I am sure it wasn’t a large amount either. Your religion isn’t being censored. If your religious beliefs preach hate and ignorance, baby do yourself a favor and go find a new religion. You have the freedom to practice your religion, but I am free from having to engage with your religion.

Imagine the Christian outrage if those from non-Christian faiths file the same complaints if Google sponsors any Christmas event.

It so fun to see how these little idiots are who scream “muh freedoms!” get so outraged when others not like them express their freedom. Also, such a win for Peaches, Heklina, and Beaux to be mentioned in a scummy trash media forum like The Daily Mail! Get that promo!
