That would be the ultimate plot twist of Gaga's career

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

Pretty sure it's not allowed, a recording has to be at most 5 years old to be eligible.

You’re right. I guess she could re-record it. Seems odd that Forbes would miss this since it’s one of the first things mentioned in the rules.

Thank you! The rules are very clear and have been clarified several times in recent years.

Lizzo's "Truth Hurts" was deemed eligible as it was recorded within the previous 5 years, re-released as a single in the eligibility period from a mainstream label, and was part of an album released during the eligibility period ("Special [Deluxe]"), neither of which - the song or the album - had previously been submitted for GRAMMY consideration. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift's "All Too Well (10-Minute Version)" was re-recorded and extended to incorporate enough new material to be eligible as "Red" (which included the original recording of "All Too Well") had been submitted for GRAMMY nominations previously.

Bloody Mary, unless a new version - not simply a remix which would, if it met all other relevant rules, only be awarded to the DJ/Producer in the "Best Remix" category (see "Summertimes Sadness") - with >50% material is recorded and released, is NOT eligible.

She 100% won't put in the effort to submit it but even knowing it is eligible is an amazing mindf*ck

she will though because Bobby is on top of that. They submit as much as they can each year now. i think it was Troy who didn’t submit things back in the early days

Is that true? 'Cause we know before their split, there was a Grammys performance set for the ARTPOP era?

It’s fair, it kinda did but I feel it didn’t, as Gaga was awarded for her performance of the song, not for the songwriting, I feel robbed cause MR lost to Shape Of You:saladga:

Outside Best Song Written for Visual Media (2 wins - "Shallow," "I'll Never Love Again" - from 4 noms), Gaga's only ever been nominated for her songwriting 3 times in Song of the Year, with 0 wins: 1. "Poker Face" (2009), 2. "Shallow" (2019), 3. "Always Remember Us This Way" (2020)

Song of the Year is the only category for a Pop song (not written for film or media) to be recognized for its songwriting. There's no genre-specific equivalent to Best Country Song, Best Rap Song, Best R&B Song, etc. for Pop. Gaga's Pop wins (Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Pop Performance by a Duo/Group) have all been for her vocal performance as the/a lead artist on the record itself. "The award goes to the performing artist. The producer, engineer and songwriter can apply for a Winner's Certificate."

The General Field - which includes Song of the Year - was expanded 1 year after "Million Reasons" was eligible. I'm sure it would've received a nom had there been 8 nominees that year vs. 5; regardless, I do think Lady Gaga and Kesha should have split the Pop field that year instead of Ed Sheeran winning.

In all honesty, as much as I love the song / think it’s one of the coolest pop songs ever, I think submitting it for a Grammy would be.. annoying? I don’t know how to articulate it. I’d rather she put out new music than try and get an award for a song released 12 years ago.

Forbes actually is not relevant anymore as much as it used to be as they let random people make articles there. Im surprised no one heard of this here.

damn if only she released an official version again, SLIGHTLY altered. Would've been a GAG to see Bloody Mary nominated at 2024 Grammys

If Bloody Mary were to win a Grammy, would that make ARTPOP her only album to not be a winner?

Only until ARTPOP ACT II wins AOTY at the 2025 Grammys :ororomunroe:

There was a placeholder for the 2014 GRAMMYs in her leaked promo calendar, yes, but it couldn't have been more than wishful thinking as performances are planned way closer to the event, and the GRAMMYs require performers to 1. be nominated 2. sing/perform nominated works OR tributes only. They'd made a few exceptions, letting Gaga (2011) and Katy Perry (2012) debut new music, but both were huge, nominated acts. Gaga earned 0 noms for the 2014 ceremony, so regardless of management, she was unlikely to perform.

A case can be made that some opportunities were missed by both teams, but her submissions since 2014 have been consistent and while the ARTPOP era submissions were certainly "WTF?," they didn't really screw her out of noms the way these BTW ones did:

1. Album of the Year/Best Pop Vocal Album - "Born This Way"
2. Record of the Year/Song of the Year/Best Pop Solo Performance - "You And I"
3. Best Dance Recording - "Judas" (deemed ineligible and moved to ROTY)
4. Best Short-form Music Video - "Born This Way," "You And I"

After "Judas" was moved to ROTY, she was splitting votes with herself in multiple categories. Given Y&I didn't even make SOTY, it didn't matter, but it was sloppy and never should've happened. There were 2 much bigger eligible hits available (BTW / TEOG), 2. submissions for Song of the Year are sorted in alphabetical order by title. "You And I," which would've struggled to be recognized anyway, was near the very end vs. "Born This Way," which was a 6-week #1 with impactful lyrics and message GRAMMY voters love ("Single Ladies," "All About That Bass," "Same Love," etc.) and would've been near the top.

I always hear "Adele was going to sweep" but that's no excuse. A GRAMMY nom is an achievement, signal of acclaim and support from the industry, and helps cement a project's legacy. There's hardly a comparable scenario of a team choosing a #6-peaking song over 1. 6-week #1 that broke sales records, 2. #3-peak that had a huge Pop and HAC Radio presence all summer long.

we need to spam her comments section cause her team is always off or on vacation so she will find out she can submit very late

I'd love to see that happen. Such a shame Born This Way doesn't have a Grammy win while all of the rest of her discography (not counting ARTPOP because they didn't even submit it) has at least one win.

I will never forget that night :selena: praying, mr, and shape of you were nominated for pop song & rainbow, Joanne and Ed’s album were nominated for pop album. Ed won both and he had boycotted the show because he wasn’t nominated in the big categories

my dream come true would’ve been Kesha winning one and Gaga winning one. And tbh Rainbow had universal acclaim, it should’ve been nominated in the big categories
