i’m so torn between being hyped for the weird and more specific direction this sequel is taking and being worried knowing that its box office numbers will get instantly compared to the first movie’s

If this movie turns out bad it will be terrible for all the goodwill Gaga has currently. I’ve interacted with a lot of people both online and in person fans, and most people are pissed ab her casting bc they think she’s the reason it’s taking a musical direction.

Probably both tbh. With the first movie doing so well financially + Gaga, they're definitely spending a lot more on their salaries. And I would imagine that because it's a musical, the sequences will be much more extravagent than the first movie.

Gaga and Joaquin salaries will be 30 millions. The director of the first one is coming back so his pay will surely be huge too.

I can see her getting the blame for it IF it’s terrible but honestly I have a lot of faith in Todd on this one. On paper Patrizia Gucci could have been the best character of her career and then script cuts and shitty editing turned the whole movie into a huge let down. Gaga did a great job in the movie and yeah maybe her accent could have been better for some people but still her performance overall was praised. I don’t think this movie will have those issues. Especially with Joaquin coming back into what is arguably his best role.

because like the people are discussing above, if the movie isn’t a big success (after the first one was the highest grossing R rated film of all time), the press will likely blame gaga and the musical direction. i’m sure i’ll enjoy the movie either way but i can also be rooting for her film career and oscar chances (which depend on this film doing well lol)
