I finally watched the first two episodes the other day, and now after reading about how everything went down behind the scenes with the original director it makes me sad because you can see something really special in between all of Sam Levinson's and The Weeknd's bullsh*t :alsemanche:

Lily Rose Depp is honestly incredible in it, it's a shame her brilliant performance is drowning in male ego, misogyny and cocaine :traumatica:

It's kinda sad that you can see glimpses of what the show could've been but they screw themselves over. Like the second episode, I think the whole sequence of the music video was great, it shows the struggle of the character, Lily was great in it aaaaand then, The Weeknd comes in and completely ruins it, and then we're back into the lame fantasy he's roleplaying in :littlepotter:

Its not a fedora u f*ck

lmao, isn't he like a core part of how this show even came to be? seems unlikely but if they drop him and Sam I think the show could totally transform into something way more interesting

King of the Fall

This show had potential, I was genuinely interested and enjoying it until the Weeknds character started getting involved. If they were going for creepy they missed hard because Tedros is unbelievably cringe and wooden but far from creepy. Lilly did a great job but was weighed down by a stupid script and a bad performance from Abel.

Hey, I'm king of the world, you ought to hear my song, you come on measure me, I'm twenty inches long

tbh I like watching it in a camp sort of way. I find it hilarious and cringey. I feel like people lack media literacy and are just chronically online. It’s literally a show…

Also as a Gaga fan, I can see the parallel’s with Lily’s character and Gaga’s career. How the music industry treats her as a money making machine rather than a person. She brings new people in her life who also just want to use her…but since that’s all she knows, she’s just oblivious to it all.
