"Cruel Summer" is becoming a single 4 years after release

I read it was about Joe Alwyn and how they were fwb's and she hid her feelings for him acting like she was cool being just friends. But he knew what she was doing the entire time, hence the grin she references. 

Taylor was in a secret relationship with Karlie for years and has numerous songs about it all referencing secret love, a forbidden/scandalous relationship, and religious guilt. I’ll point you to a few in particular….Don’t Blame Me, Dancing With Our Hands Tied, and False God. These songs contain numerous references to Karlie, that can ONLY be about Karlie. Aka they don’t make any sense being about Joe Alwyn or any other man she has been linked to around that time. The three songs I listed don’t contain any male pronouns or references to a man but she does have numerous songs with male pronouns that are highly likely to really be about Karlie. Of course she couldn’t use female pronouns unless she plans to come out. Like I said, this theory that Taylor is queer and was in a secret relationship with Karlie back in the day has a MOUNTAIN of evidence behind it. If you’re interested, I can point you to some sources where you can begin diving into it. It took me literally weeks to go through everything. Right now I could probably give a 3 hour long presentation on all the evidence.

Now regarding the song Cruel Summer, first of all, notice how she references a secret relationship with “I don’t wanna keep secrets just to keep you”. The big piece of evidence that this song is about Karlie is the “snuck in through the garden gate every night” line. This is pretty SPECIFIC. Karlie’s apartment had a garden gate that Taylor would enter through. She has been photographed at it numerous times. None of her alleged boyfriends have been known to have a garden gate entrance to their homes. 

Let me finish by saying I used to think the “Gaylor” theory was completely insane and used to laugh at it. But then a few weeks ago I came across some posts and decided to do a deep dive into all the evidence and I was completely SHOOK to the core. It went so much deeper than I had thought. I’m now 100% convinced. So convinced that I would honestly bet my life on it.

For folklore and evermore yes, this, very explicitly. 

For everything else she's said it's a mixture of her real experiences and additional details to either protect some of her privacy or make the thing she's singing about more universally relatable. It's clear who Cruel Summer is actually meant to be about (hint: it's who the rest of the goddamn album is about) but the Gaylors will literally bend over backwards to keep their little fantasy world alive and kicking.

A few of them might be, but the majority are definitely based on her real life. And I think these songs in question through someone else’s perspective are on Folklore and Evermore. Everything before that was 100% based on her real life.

Have you actually looked at any of the Gaylor EVIDENCE?!  It is NOT a “little fantasy world”. Sure it seems that way from the outside but if you took the time to actually dive into the mountain of evidence you would see the TRUTH. 🙄

I have seen many Gaylors try and share the shallow, baseless evidence yeah. I'm just gonna say to you what I say to anyone else who engages in this behavior:

Get out of people's sexuality. It isn't your business. That goes for Taylor and any other celebrity or public persona or every day person the street. Speculation on someone's sexuality is gross and very, very dangerous behavior.

How is this “dangerous” behavior?! It’s 2023! 🙄  Yes there is still tons of homophobia in today’s society but we have come a LONG way in the past several decades. Maybe if we were high school students speculating on the sexuality of a closeted gay teen with homophobic parents in rural America, but this is not the case. Almost all the “evidence” that Gaylors base their theory on are songs, videos, social media posts, interviews, etc that Taylor has chosen to put out into the world herself. Nobody is invading her privacy and trying to find personal/private information that she didn’t intend for people to see, in order to out her! 
 

Also, let me just say that Taylor has never explicitly stated that she is straight or commented on her sexuality at all. So assuming that she is straight is also “speculation”. Yes she has dated men, but that doesn’t mean she cannot be queer. Bisexuals exist. Society still views heterosexuality as the “default” and views being queer as inferior which is why people are so offended over speculating on someone possibly being queer! This needs to STOP.

If you think the evidence is “baseless” you have NOT looked into it enough.

Not gonna lie that this makes me appreciate Lover as a project more.

I always thought that lover is kinda like less superior 1989.

But maybe it's because of the single choice, like, Me and YNTCD is very meh tbh.

Like, If the single is Cruel Summer, Cornelia Street, False God maybe changed the whole perspective of the album.

A bit late to this, but thanks! Very interesting indeed. After reading that I looked up the lyrics of those songs and wow you're right. Amazing how it almost feels like a plainsight confession once you know the backstory.

Cruel Summer:
"And it's new, the shape of your body" - Taylor isn't used to being intimate with women.
"It's blue, the feeling I've got" - probably the scared and guilty feeling she has exploring same-sex attractions for the first time.

Don't Blame Me:
"Something happened for the first time In the darkest little paradise" - Taylor's been in love many times, so probably a first time that she's fallen for a woman.

"Halo hiding my obsession" - Karlie was a Victoria's Secret angel.

"And, baby, for you
I would (I would) fall from grace
Just to (Just to) touch your face" - Taylor knows that being with a woman would be super controversial and definitely hurt her image, especially with her country fans.

False God:

"But we might just get away with it
Religion's in your lips" - I don't think Karlie ever came out and before she got married to a man, she converted to Judaism. WOW this is getting interesting.. learning this as I write this.

Wow. I'm completely sold on this. It also explains why she was focusing so heavily on LGBT themes and support with Lover's lead singles.
