It's the supporting big pharma for a cash payout for me

She said she was pro medicine during her Oprah interview where she showcased her (TW Self Harm) scars from Self Harm, so this shouldn’t be that much of a surprise. She suffers from chronic pain, we all know this.

And the fact that it’s Pfizer shouldn’t be that much of a surprised. She quite literally fund raised for them with an entire zoom concert

You got a point there. I still think it was a bad pr move and I see why people are disappointed and she does have to live with her fans criticising her, but some people are now overreacting by saying she turned her back on them and that it was all a fraud.

By the way, because people don't seem to know much about fibromyalgia - but migraines and headaches are a big part of the symptoms of it. #justsaying

(since people said she's never mentioned migraines before - you don't have to share every little detail about you and your medical history, but migraines are part of fibro and she did mention that)

Do we know if many people unfollowed her? Because judging by the huge and almost unprecedented backlash, it looked like it was going to be a considerable number?

She has 55.2 million rn it’s not gonna stop brand deals they’re gonna keep on coming lololol

But music wise I’m accepting that she’s inching closer and closer to retirement and I don’t blame her

I think this is just the ‘straw that broke the camels back for many.. after the keeping Richy situation, the teasing of something big, when it was just another Haus labs thing, never doing any collabs or droplets , whilst other fan bases are fed good, fans are feeling unhappy

The US is facing an epidemic in addiction to pain meds and she’s feeding into it, it’s genuinely heartbreaking.

Migraine medication is *not* an addictive pain medication.

I saw someone charting it on Twitter and it looks like, regardless of whether she lost anyone over that, she still netted an additional 6k followers.

Also lbr it’s very weird for your ad about meds to include “ever since I was a little girl Ive had migraines.” Like cmon. That is *literally targeting children with pharmaceuticals. It might sound nit picky to some but with stuff like this you have to be nitpicky! If ever there were a time to nail the press release, talking about meds is the time!

When I was 14 I had SEVERE migraines due to a shint break. Yes it is fine to target children with that because I personally would have loved to have that.

Yeah, migraine meds are usually an *as needed* medication and, in some cases, if the underlying cause is treated, the medication is no longer necessary. People are acting like she's trying to get kids addicted to opiates 🪦

It’s not “super ibuprofen” considering any prescribed medication has the potential for serious side-effects, yet Gaga is posting about it as if it’s this easily accessible and affordable everyday pill.

As someone who takes Nurtec multiple times a week, it has been a miracle medication for my migraines. Every medication has its side effects and impacts people differently. However, Nurtec is not addictive and doesn’t cause rebound migraines like other migraine medications can. It is not a pain med. It is a CGRP medication that works with your brain chemistry and the cause of migraines. Since I’m going through fertility treatments it is one of the few medications I can take since it has a short half life. Also, if you’re in the US you can potentially get it for free. There is a manufacturer “coupon” for it. Or you may be able to get samples from your doctor (I get so many samples.) And I’m not siding with big pharma at all because there are a lot of issues with big pharma that should be addressed. But this medication isn’t the same as a pain pill and I haven’t heard from people in the migraine community with major side effects either. I think it should be acknowledged that this medication is good and helps people too.

Also the fact that some people are more upset about this when more serious things are happening is pissing me off. Focus on Colleen Ballinger being exposed for grooming minors and child labor. Focus on Chelsea Miller using transphobia to distract from her being a mediocre track athlete.

Since this is a CGRP medication it is getting to the underlying issue. My migraines are genetic, and there is no changing that. Nurtec can actually be taken as preventative every other day or as needed. I also take several other preventatives for migraines. But yes the acute treatment is as needed. Chronic migraines really suck.

I didn't know that! That's even better. My migraines are PTSD related, so I was only really familiar with as needed meds, but glad that you're getting the treatment you need :holdmyhand:

I understand the frustration and that people want her to be speaking out on social media. However a lot of the celebrities that do post are simply performative, and don't do anything to make an impact behind the scenes. Gaga on the other hand has always been supportive where it really counts, even if it isn't publicized for everyone on instagram to see.

Remember during the first week of covid when we were questioning why Gaga hadn't said anything about lockdown, only for her to be frantically planning the Together at Home event + calling companies and billionaires asking for money? Time and time again she has shown that she doesn't need to do performative activism to make a difference.

Yes, a supportive instagram post is easy to do and makes us all feel good. But at the end of the day behind the scenes actions and donations make more of a difference than a post. The woman is literally on a presidential committee now, who knows what she may be working on with them. Plus the BTW Foundation exists year round helping many individuals in the LGBTQ+ community. That to me is real impact, not a post that takes 30 seconds to create so she can pat herself on the back and say " wow I did something".

I was wondering the same and I feel we should be able to discuss it here.

But then I thought about how the media often uses GGD as a source for their stories and by doing so often take things out of context. If they delete the threads, media cannot quote fans on GGD like they have in the past. You dont need an account to read this foru.. I think that's why GGD feels threads that criticize Gaga or expose info should be closed to limit damage.

On the other hand, a forum is build to discuss, in this case Gaga, so I would like it to be a place where I can freely and respectfully talk about her career choices.

It’d be nice if there was a setting for threads to be seen by members only
