Cuz lawsuits are hard and expensive. Do I think the musical similarity was a coincidence? Hell no, that hook is the exact same melody, same key, same tempo, same general sound. Either she copied them or they copied her. :toofunny: And now she's accused of ripping off another artist with Dance the Night. It's not a shocker to me cuz she lacks any musical identity whatsoever, she made on-trend basic pop music on par w/ Zara Larsson, took some dance classes, and made on-trend retro revival music on par w/ Ava Max.

I saw a Rolling Stone video where they "debunked" this case as a coincidence and used Tik Tok vs. California Girls as an example of another coincidence, even though that situation isn't a coincidence either cuz Dr. Luke was responsible for both songs there... Clownery is what it is...

Did they drop the lawsuit or did she drop a handful of cheques in their pockets?

They were offered money :bionic: and accepted instead of pursuing this lawsuit which might as well end up leading to nothing. (I could imagine)

They didn't settle, they gave up :rip: I guess they thought it was a waste of time/money at this point

This lawsuit was ridiculous. Ever since the Blurred Lines decision all these people are coming for hit songs because their obscure song sounds like it. There are only so many chord progressions in the world. So many songs sound like other songs.  They are all just using similar chords and doing different things with it. I’m glad Dua and Katy won and I hope this stops these type of lawsuits.

I believe Ed Sheeran won his lawsuits too
