I think it's somewhat obvious that Fame was a creative endeavor with a concept specific to her, a hint of her hi-tech fascination, her visual creativity, etc. whereas Eau De Gaga was Lady Gaga being told to slap her name on a sexy perfume and sell it :green: Hence, Fame had its own mini-era while Eau De Gaga was just a small footnote in the transition from ARTPOP to Cheek To Cheek.

I still think she was persuaded to do Fame. When she realized she got a lot to work with I think that sold her bc if you notice the marketing it’s unlike any perfume launch…in that it nearly had nothing to do with perfume hahaha she made art out of a creative endeavor Troy likely saw for her but she didn’t want but was persuaded into, is my guess

I think every project she has done after ARTPOP has been something she enjoyed. Cheek To Cheek, Joanne, A Star Is Born, etc. all of this was with Bobby as her manager so I assume after all these years, she has learned to do what she really wants.

also Haus Labs was born out of her work with Sara. She loves working with her and what they do together. And Sara probably wanted to do it and Gaga was more than happy to work with her on it

I haven’t smelled neither of them. I’ve actually never seen them in person ever.

i think i remember her saying the only way she'd do a perfume is if she did her own way instead of something generic? she wanted total creative freedom or something? and the end result was FAME :firega:

mother, what must i do?

Interesting! Now I wonder what she really feels about haus labs

it's clearly something she enjoys doing otherwise she wouldn't be doing it, as said in the video

I honestly didn’t get around to getting Eau de Gaga but I LOVE Fame so I doubt I’d like it more than that 😅

She didn't want to sell perfumes, she was forced.

i understand why she didn't enjoy selling branded products, which can include perfume. but part of me wishes that she didn't drop the Fame perfume line and kept releasing flankers. Fragrance is a really powerful artform, and many master perfumers create what are called "scent stories" or "scent journeys" where the perfume is capturing either an emotion, a concept, even a place or time, or trying to bottle up the essence of a person (e.g. "this perfume is inspired by Frida Kahlo").

As an art form and supplement to her other artistic ventures, perfumery would've been an interesting avenue to continue down, if she managed to work with good perfumers. She could describe a concept to them and they can turn it into a smell. There are all kinds of scent notes too, not just flowers... There's a blood note, there's an accord that's meant to smell like an old library, there's even a c*m note lol. You can get perfume to smell like just about anything.

I think she sort of undermined the power of fragrance as an artform and also as a story-telling medium. Imagine a perfume that *smells* like the world of Chromatica? Or even a fragrance that embodies her characters, like Enigma.

That's just me as a perfume lover really dreaming deeply lol, but Gaga's creative brain paired with a world-class perfumer could really make magic.

That's an interesting take on all of it actually. I mean it's been 10+ years after Fame, there's a chance she might feel different about it now. The fragance business was probably attached to her being overworked or seen as a money making machine at that time. Now with Haus Labs and her taking more control of her career, she could do more things with that if she desires some day.

I still have my original bottle from 2011 and I still have some of the perfume left in there.

I have & love them both. :holdmyhand:

As a perfume : Eau de Gaga > Fame
Its smell lasts way, way longer than Fame's - which while smelling delicious, fades away in mere minutes.
Eau de Gaga smells so classy & fits every occasion.

As an object of collection : Fame > Eau de Gaga
It's a full on art object & looks so cool on a display.
+ That marketing campaign, simply immaculate.

(Gaga please make another perfume inspired by an era!)

I have read this several times on here, and I'm always surprised.
Eau de Gaga lasts about 4 hours noticeably on my skin, whereas FAME is one of my biggest performers, easily 14 hours.

I think FAME is more interesting and a nicer scent. Eau de Gaga is a very all around scent, yet I haven't smelled a lot that is similar, so in some way it's unique.

The whole FAME campaign was mesmerizing!

I'd shove a bottle of Fame up my c00ch if I had one. Its sooooo good, I still have a sealed bottle because I don't want to be sad that I can NEVER smell it again essentially.

can't vote because i never got to smell edg (never saw it in stores) but i owned two bottles of fame and it was amazing, something about it worked so well with me that it could last the entire day like freshly applied, which occurs very rarely with any fragrance that i've tried

does anyone know any affordable dupes that i could get for any of them? i miss smelling like an expensive hooker like i did when i was 16 tbqh
