So essentially nothing to worry about. Our great grandchildren great grand children will be dead and forgotten by that time.

climate change will wipe us out before then

I don't think climate change would "wipe us out" by then as in extinct. More like our lives will be really shitty and poverty driven. With a lot of food shortages

in 100 years, the hottest places on earth will be uninhabitable, in 1000 i think the earth will barely be habitable. since we refuse to even address climate change

and then we get an ice age when they try to cool the earth but it goes wrong

and thats how snowpiercer happens

Isn't this kind of movement fairly normal with costal cities? I mean at that rate it will be like 216~ years until it sinks 1 foot. I think the rising sea levels are the bigger issue here. Apparently the sea levels are rising 2-3x what NYC is sinking, and that affects every costal city/town in the world :bear:

Hopefully within that 216 years we will have advanced enough to solve the issues at hand. With the rate technology is improving (and AI will only speed up technological progress) I'm very sure it will be fixed before it's an issue

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Were one of the most adaptable species on earth.

Even in a post apocalyptic scenario I don't think we'd go fully extinct.

Even if we lost our ability to be industrialized and started living like the 1st nations again only in higher latitudes and with struggle, we'd survive

Only if earth got so hot nearly all life on earth died and we had nothing to live off of anymore. But wed still need to warm up several degrees more to get to that point. That's possible but I doubt it's the most likely scenario

Well, the descendants of these people will share absolutely no DNA with the people of that day. Nobody should worry about 1000 years time.

Who even specifically came up with the 1000 years anyway?

Even if that figure is true, that would be based on current ocean levels which are rising much faster than the city is sinking

The city sinking is an interesting variable but hardly the most serious one.

The city will be below sea level WAY before the sinking factor alone would bring it there and it will require investment in walls and stuff to preserve it sooner rather than later

We will be dead by the time it happens, not our problem.

I feel like we will need walls and stuff in our lifetime still

I feel even if just for high tides during storms on the lowest shore areas
