*major spoiler warnings for those who haven't finished the show*

so i really loved yellowjackets season 1, recommended it to everyone and even watched season 2 weekly with my flatmate cus i converted him into a fan but we were both left bitterly disappointed with how S2 ended :awkney: and i want to know if we're alone with this

we felt like the season kept generating more questions than answers about what was going on with the girls that carried on from season 1:

- what actually is this entity that's following them? is it actually supernatural or is lottie just a few screws loose?

- why does taissa have an "other tiassa" who comes out at night and why is she the only one affected by the wilderness that way? why has her sleep walking started again?

- what was up with the gay coach and his partner being so mad/scared without explanation?

- why did one episode randomly have a different version of the title song?

- how did nat instantly die from being stabbed in the shoulder (unless it was meant to be her neck)? and why did nat being classed as the leader feel like some huge revelation?

like am i being a dumbass and missed a lot of stuff or is the writing just not as good as S1? i'm open to being wrong, i just need to talk about it :traumatica:

mother, what must i do?

Season 2 was an absolute mess and bitterly disappointing, so many plot holes, writing all over the place, acting took a dip. I didn't like it from the start when Shauna was talking to Jackie's corpse, I hope the young actors get recognition and get more work from this show though.

She was stabbed with a syringe which contained a certain substance for quick and painless death. Misty mentioned it at some point

the only part i really loved was the episode with shauna's baby, i thought that was a really good twist at the end but the rest of the season just seemed so... empty, like nothing major happened to push the story into giving us any revelations :awkney: it just kept us in a state of blue balls from the mysteries set up in season 1

Meredith Grey

Not sure if it’s true but i heard Juliette Lewis was supposed to die at a later point in the series but she realized during filming season 1 that she wanted to take a break from acting to focus on music and asked to be killed off earlier. They did a lot of foreshadowing of how she would die but I feel as if it was rushed & her death didn’t seem satisfying. I felt like it just happened. Natalie was my favorite character and it felt like they mourned the cabin dying more than her LOL. I felt like they focused so much on Shauna and her psychology that the other character’s took a hit. Mostly adult Tai like the most insane thing she did this season was hitch-hiked.

literally my reaction too!! she was my favourite character and i felt nothing when she died cus like... it just happened :awkney: and the whole plane sequence, i was just so.... confused :saladga: i know it's representing her dying and her life "flashing before her eyes" but if it was meant to be super emotiontional, it missed the mark for me

I LOVED season 1 and had high hopes for season 2 - I assumed with all the buzz and emmy nominations that the budget would increase... But the drop in quality is INSANE.

It went from what felt like an HBO budget to a bad CW show :traumatica: all the terrible green screen, cheap looking sets and props, the bad CGI... I have no idea what happened :franminervini:

I will say that I like where the plot is going in terms of

Spoiler

the girls admitting they leaned into Lottie's crazy in order to do what they wanted, and that Misty is basically the ultimate villain

but I feel like it's gonna get cancelled once season 3 wraps :awkney: the subreddit is in shambles and the fandom thinks the show has fallen apart so I don't know how much longer they can drag this on.

Why is misty the ultimate villain? They are all victims of their trauma and coping with it in their own destructive, illegal ways... what makes her worse?

I enjoyed the first half of the season and thought it was building nicely.... then suddenly it became a bit whack.

In defense of the writing, Taissa's schizophrenia is explored plenty in S1 so it didn't feel like it needs to be central here. Van's twisted survival-at-all-costs mentality is what stood out to me in the latter half of the season and this was emotionally and psychologically compelling to watch.

I don't think we need a clear answer to what 'it' is, though it feels like the answer has already been made clear: 'it' is that primal survival instinct perverted into a cultish bloodthirst. It is the re-enactment of their trauma.

There were a few moments where the writing lost its authenticity and felt theatrical which lost me - especially the last episode, hence why Natalie's death felt so flat.

I agree that the Coach's story isn't very well fleshed out either.

I noticed the altered version of the title song too, and thought oh cool. I guess it fit the episode? Does it need to do more?

Spoiler

She destroyed the plane black box making rescue almost impossible, she killed out of anger and not just survival, she admitted to going along with Lottie's hallucinations and egging her on for her own entertainment and motives... she's literally the reason outside of the plane crash that things got so bad for them.

The present storyline was absolute filler. There really was nothing going on except for Shauna being investigated and them obsessing over whatever 'it' was in the forest that they somehow brought along with them. It started out strong with the first 2 episodes but it's clear the writers don't know what to do with the series anymore. I spent the last minutes of the finale on my phone because I couldn't bare to watch it without something else to distract me from the garbage it had become:messga:
