Miley Cyrus has no desire to tour again

Miley Cyrus said that she "can't" — and won't — embark on any new tours for the foreseeable future, explaining that she made the decision after completing her global Bangerz tour in 2014.

"It's been a minute," she acknowledged of her nearly decade-long hiatus in her recent interview. "After the last [headline arena] show I did [in 2014], I kind of looked at it as more of a question. And I can't."

"Not only 'can't,'" she continued, "because can't is your capability, but my desire. Do I want to live my life for anyone else's pleasure or fulfillment other than my own?"

Earlier in the interview, Cyrus noted that she prefers to perform for her friends rather than stadiums full of fans. "Like singing for hundreds of thousands of people isn't really the thing that I love," she said. "There's no connection. There's no safety."

She added, "It's also not natural. It's so isolating because if you're in front of 100,000 people then you are alone."

good for her. touring seems so draining but sadly so many artists are forced to do it cause it’s the only way they can really make money off of their music. glad i was able to make it to the bangerz too it was so much fun!

Why dont artists like her do a mini tour with many days of rest between dates?

I dont know why but I just cant respect an artists that doesnt tour

Aw I understand what she means but I wish she would tour smaller venues to get that connection from the audience. She seems so happy performing at her NYE gig.

Yup, really admire her for it! Especially her, who got into that career before she even could form an adult decision about whether being a popstar is something she wants. I personally think in her case it's really understandable.

Bc that’s the same thing, touring sucks for artists in any capacity. If you wanna see an artist perform, go to them. If you aren’t able to, then that’s just how it is. I’ll never be able to see Gaga in Vegas but that doesn’t mean it’s her issue, it’s mine. Just bc they can hop on a plane and be somewhere doesn’t mean it doesn’t take a huge toll on their bodies and lives regardless of the amount of rest between dates

Its not just resting between dates, they can also make it a 3 months tour instead of a year and a half tour. Just do one date in big cities, then one date in the biggest countries outside the US like London and Paris for example.

If you dont enjoy touring and performing, why are you an artist? look at how Madonnas favorite thing to do is go on tour, even when shes struggling and is older.

Madonna≠Miley Cyrus? Artists don’t have to have similar viewpoints and preferences. I mean she didn’t say she’s never performing again, she just doesn’t want to do a lengthy/taxing journey across the seven seas.

It's not even profitable anymore for anyone except arena and stadium fillers. If you're a midlevel artist playing clubs, there have been tons of articles written about how you won't even break even thanks to shi*tty merch deals, not being allowed to sell albums on tour, venues all taking a % of the merch cut, etc etc etc. It'll take someone big like Miley taking a stand against the way things are going to draw attention to it and change things

First of all, all artists are different. Second of all, Madonna enjoys touring bc she’s a narcissist who gets her only shred of peace and fulfillment from the validation of others being obsessed with her. Not sure what isn’t obvious about any of that
