Teletubby 138,583
British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran on Tuesday defeated a second copyright lawsuit in federal court in Manhattan over similarities between his hit "Thinking Out Loud" and Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On." U.S. District Judge Louis Stanton dismissed the case brought by Structured Asset Sales LLC, ruling that the parts of "Let's Get It On" Sheeran was accused of infringing were too common for copyright protection. Sheeran won a separate jury trial over the songs earlier this month. source
Guest
The people in charge of Marvin's catalogue need to get a grip. I feel like they are going after everyone who has even the smallest of ways. Glad to see these are being dismissed. Really absurd to me, and while I don't think they are tarnishing his image by pursuing these ridiculous claims, I do think they are doing some unnecessary harm. These cases aren't some small thing only people into music know about. They're being mentioned by news stations, at least here, for whatever reason.
