When he said he wants to kill the Weeknd and be reborn, I read that as the central theme of his next album, sorta like a sendoff to the concept of the Weeknd character in its present form. After Hours, Dawn FM and this upcoming final album are all pieces of one story. After Hours is all about trying to find fufillment in debauchery, only to end up feeling more empty and hopeless than before. At the start of Dawn FM we come to find that the Weeknd character nearly died of a drug overdose and that album is all about trying to break the old bad habits and find true healing through a commited relationship, the character finally opens his heart to someone he genuinely loves only to have her leave him and emotionally destroy him and leave him suicidal on the track Less Than Zero. We are going to have to wait until his next album to see if it ends with the characters death or if he lives and finds healing.
