Those 3 are surprisingly still cuddled up in the top 3. Perhaps Peso Pluma will finally break it up next week. :ohwell:

Never heard the #1 song, goes to show how meaningless #1’s are these days.

Bad Bunny on my side eye list currently. Him putting together a quick lil single with a Mexican band because Peson Pumba started blowing up gave me the ick a little.

The implications of half of that title had me questioning the choices of Miley and SZA. :fatcat:

i haven’t heard the song either, but that awful man’s 2021 album has moved 2,539,000 units, which sadly is more than chromatica i think. clearly a lot of people know his music lol. i don’t think we should say hitting number one is meaningless when it’s everyone but gaga.

but seriously, screw morgan wallen

But there was a point in time where number 1 songs were a MOMENT that either impacted or shaped the culture/year at the time. Even if it wasn’t Gaga (no bias, besides she doesn’t have a lot). Whereas nowadays I genuinely don’t hear many of these number 1 songs being played or talked about by anyone around me (including people I don’t know). In fact other songs in the top 10 have been way more relevant.

oh for sure. there was no escaping poker face or california girls and such.

however back then radio had soooo much power and now hits are basically determined by what people choose to seek out to stream themselves which could also be looked at as even more of an accomplishment
