It's honestly sad. I've known her since this song:

It was supposed to be the lead of her debut and apparently expectations were set high enough they thought she was worth the high budget: the Nicki Minaj feature that back then guaranteed you a hit and a David Meyers music video.

I don't know how hard it tanked but it became part of no album. She continued being a featured artist with songs that did pretty good, but tried solo a few times more and ended up releasing a 2-part EP. She then hit gold with that country song and then released her debut, which made little to no noise.

Today same thing: collabs that did fine, hit gold with I'm Good, and then this album. She's in a hamster wheel of tanking solo and getting back up as a feature.

I don’t know how she gets out of it. She needs a solo hit maybe. But she’s been trying for so long.

Honestly, this album was a big let down. I thought she would be going in a specific direction after Better Mistakes (which was influenced with more 2000s pop/rock. Ultimately, self titled ended up being a huge miss trying to fit a disco mold without any standouts.

Religion is a product to sell.

I like her as a person, I saw some interviews, and she is really kind.

But her music doesn't do to much for me. And her last album, let's be honest is not that great.

The only song that I wanted to listen was Stars.

It takes a smart brunette to play a dumb blonde.

The US music market is going the opposite direction I thought it would go. After the pandemic and lockdown, I thought dance music/dance pop would be much more in demand.

Yet we are seeing these big pop acts struggle to chart their albums.

Despite having HUGE singles, we see both Miley and Sam Smith fail to stay super relevant. Ellie, Ava, and Bebe’s albums all flopped.

It’s so weird because 2010s Maximalist pop seems to be what people want. Taylor’s literally just re-recording her old songs and they’re slaying. These retro sample songs are going viral left and right and yet big dance pop numbers are not successful.

I’m interested in what everyone else thinks

i legit think tik tok has a huge hand in it. at least when i listen to radio, unless they are super well established all the “hits” are songs that went viral on tik tok

Bebe is such a weird artist in that she cannot seem to chart high yet she's in the top 50 artists on the biggest music platform and has almost 50 MILLION people listening to her.

Like genuinely wtf.

those streams are happening in spite of her, not because of her though. people aren't intentionally listening to her, they're listening to the songs she's featured on. it's really unfortunate that she can't get the recognition she wants, but also like... she should try to enjoy that success instead of being so patently fame-hungry

I was so excited for the album after Satellites an hearing some of the snippets.

But after listening to it once, I had no motivation to listen to it again.

All songs sounded the same, lyrics were basic and the melodies meh
