Writing in an album manifesto for Nylon, she said: 

"I wanted to make an album that sounds the way my head feels. Dipping in and out of depression, gratitude, rage, and hope. Always moving.

Without the darkness, there is no light. So I let my darkness have the light. I can’t fight the truth. Life is difficult and painful. It is for everyone.

An artist doesn’t exist to make others happy. I believe an artist gives voice, motion, color to the emotions we all have. The good emotions, and the unmanageably f*cking miserable ones.

Working with Rick Rubin was a divine gift. Following the creation of the first song, he allowed me to explore emotions that were too intense to explore on my own. I felt anger. I felt sad. I felt broken, and he helped me put my pieces back together.

I have given voice to the pain. I finally acknowledged it and let it dissolve into being a piece of me instead of my enemy. Every day is its own journey. I’m not fixed and I may never be. Or maybe there is nothing to fix. But I want people to know they aren’t alone in their head."

Being an artist is simply about self expression, and its a very personal thing. Im not a big fan of artists who think they have to always spread positivity.

I love that she is the artist that she wants to be, instead of being made to be a certain type of way. It's what made me love Gaga. 

Kesha was controlled for so long and still is in a lot of ways, so for her to be open and extremely honest is so beautiful to see, living truthfully and honestly, rather than behind a lie and painful pop music.

Gaga does lean towards spreading a good message sometimes (which is a good thing), but in general, thats not what her work is all about.

Gaga even wrote controversial songs about rape and suicide without giving it a positive twist.

Yeah, but she's not romanticizing it. She always writes though out her albums how she finds a way out.

And she's always explained that her aim is to use her platform to spread a positive message. There are countless interviews that proof this.

Yeah all artists (including Gaga) will be preassured by society and record labels to have a positive message. When Gaga tries to push boundaries and express herself artistically, she gets alot of backlash.

DWYW video and Swine performance were about her rape without a giving it a positive twist. Princess Die is about romanticising suicide.

Omg, I wont argue about things she's said more than 10 years ago. Also a lot of songs on Chromatica are about depression and her way of coping with her illness.
 

STILL, the whole artwork ALWAYS ends with a positive message. ARTPOP ended with a "party", that's why  Applause is the last song on the track list.
 

Chromatica starts with her looking for wonderland and guess how it ends: With an uplifting overall message: 

"Babylon" is "a song about gossip, something that had dominated my life that made me feel so small and chained. Now I wear chains and I wear them with pride. I feel free."

thats not how I relate and see her art = cool, nothing I want to add. I accept that 100%. 
 

artists will be pressured by society and record labels to give a general positive message = That can be true or false. Nothing we know for sure. I prefer to talk about actions and things that are there. I don't like talking about potential circumstances
