I have zero doubts about Gaga's acting. Its the cast, director and editors that I hope can also create a dream.

We all know Gaga carried HOG on her own back...

HOG should really have been about her. That long runtime with substandard editing really took a toll on its reception. We know Gaga can act well. Her Golden Globe, Critics Choice, NBR and NYFCC are there as proof. But I hope everything around her goes rightly as wellthis time. :vegas:

Gaga wasn't the problem with Gucci though. In fact, she was the best part of the movie; the film itself was just bad. I have faith that this movie will at least be better than that.

And what happened? She wasn’t nominated ok but she was praised left and right and was seen as the only good thing of a mess of a movie? If anything she did a bad PR campaign

OT: of course they are, we know who we are talking about, it’s gags

all the reviews were accurate though, she was the only good part about that movie and the only award she missed out on was the oscar, she nabbed almost everything else

Girl :bear: Gaga single-handedly carried that movie. A movie filled with other well renown actors, and she stood out more than all of them. The movie was technically bad (I kinda liked it lol), but Gaga was fantastic. WAAAAAAY better than ASIB

We saw what happened and what happened was she was the highlight of an otherwise boring movie :grr:

I’m not seeing a reason for your skepticism

Let me try this one more time. When Gaga gets all this praise all the time, she becomes the favorite. When she becomes the favorite, she can be easily snubbed as we saw with the Oscars. She was getting all this hype THE SECOND House of Gucci was released, so when the time came for her to be nominated, the Oscars said "SIKE, your fav girl won't get this nomination, we want to snub her and get those headlines how unfair we are" and it happened, many sites wrote about the unfair snub, etc, which was what everyone was pretty much talking about, rather than who actually got nominated.

IF Gaga starts getting this absolutely ridiculous praises A YEAR and a half before the movie is released, she's bound to not only start being snubbed, but her downfall is gonna approach us. The bigger they are, the harder they fall, ring any bells? Some of you guys don't remember the earlier days when she was still being praised so much all the time and then it came the time when everyone was done with her. You don't remember how fast the media can turn on you and the media usually turns on you after years of praising you and all that sh!t.

Same way with L4S, sure she wasn't your typical front-runner, but everyone assumed they'll give her a general field Grammy, bc of Tony and everything, right? Wasn't she the "adored fave" that was bound to win something on the telecast? Did she win tho?

One more thing, I'd rather Gaga remain in the shadows regarding Joker 2 until after it's released and I'd rather her be the underdog that can build a momentum and a stronger narrative. (same way she had with ASIB - singer turned actor, etc.) So she can finally win the Best Actress award. If she keeps being THE ONE, etc. she'll never get it, unless the other actresses are so bad that it's a given she wins. And in this industry nothing is a given.

Little Monsters are too obsessed with bragging with Gaga and hyping her up to the other fandoms on twitter and we all saw y'all embarrass yourselves with HoG, and all these quotes I got prove that. You want her to win? Or do you want to use some stupid articles (that literary don't mean sh!t, other than getting CLICKS) to pat yourselves on the back that y'all choose to stan an artist that's so praised.

tldr; i'd rather the media keep quiet about Gaga, so she can surprise with wins, rather than her being labeled the favorite, which gives the Oscars, etc. the chance of snubbing her for more articles and clicks.

I feel like if she was to play that part again with better writing she'd absolutely kill it and would be able to disappear more into the role since she got to flex her acting muscles since then

but on that last part, we agree that season was not good

Your entire point could be refuted with ASIB. I don't understand this "she was the underdog" narrative you have going on. She's an extremely popular singer, who has acted before ASIB, and even after the movie itself came out, people were praising her performance. Going into the Oscars, she was the "underdog" in the sense that most of her competition were seasoned actress, but even then, the TRUE underdog that awards season was Yalitza Aparicio, not Gaga.

Joker 2 was inevitably going to get a lot of media attention. It's a sequel to one of the highest grossing R-rated films of all time, it's a comic book film, it's a musical, and it's co-starring Lady Gaga. You'd be ignorant to think that sites wouldn't pick up any news about this movie. It's not necessarily their fault that they're talking about the film more than a year before its release. They just finished filming a few weeks ago, and part of the filming process was very public. Are they just supposed to not talk about it?

The Academy isn't going to look at tabloids and be like "Well, we could've nominated Gaga for this film, but because she was so hyped up in early 2023, we can't do that anymore! Oops!". If anything, the Oscars would probably WANT to nominate her because they know it gets the attention from fans. Why would you want negative publicity? The reason why Gucci didn't get any love from the Oscars is because the movie itself was bad. It has nothing to do with hyping up Gaga.

Also, "I'd rather Gaga remain in the shadows regarding Joker 2 until after it's released"...Girl, isn't that what she's kinda doing?? The most we've gotten from Gaga was a 5 second TikTok a couple of days ago. We don't know what she's doing, what she's working on, etc. If anything, Gaga's been in the shadows for months and months now. Her Oscar's performance was her first appearance in a long time.

OMG calm down girl. There was no conspiracy to "snub" Gaga because she was too hyped up. She didn't get the nomination because the Oscars uses a system called Single Transferable Vote to select its nominees. You don't need to know exactly how it works because it's very complicated, but simply put, it heavily favors candidates who are ranked #1 on the ballots. Gaga very well could have been #2 to #5 on every single ballot and still failed to make the cut, which is most likely what happened. She didn't get nominated because the film was too terrible to be ranked #1 for anything. That's it. It's absolutely no indication whatsoever for how the industry sees her or how she will be evaluated for future projects.

This - the oscar’s actually love great films and will reward you for great work. They don’t ‘teach people’ a lesson lol The Grammys however seem to do that

Hopefully Joker will fade from news for the next 12 months and then gradually pick up as the release approaches. And Oct 24, a month out from the electuon ? Lord only knows what state the US will be in then.

Rare underrated article I'm surprised hasn't gotten more attention!  More insight about how she performed on set! An early cut of the film was screened to Warner Bros executives.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-12021807/Lady-Gaga-nearly-skipped-performing-2023-Oscars-going-method-Harley-Quinn.html?fbclid=IwAR3_BSfkS-JuEj-HUhO5WrJae_wTvVxKKFbJwuu88ALmjaNpOkmziAbYaGE

A Warner Brothers' source added that Gaga's buzz-worthy performance of Harley Quinn could earn her another Academy Award from early rushes seen by executives.

The insider added Gaga was able to communicate 'in a unique way' with co-star Joaquin Phoenix and director Todd Phillips that she was remaining in character on set.

'It's no understatement to say she lived Harley 24/7 talking, moving and embracing her frailties,' they added. 'She communicated with Todd and Joaquin in a unique way informing them that she was effectively Harley on set.

Gaga, 37, went 'full method' to get into character as the Joker's girlfriend, described as a 'human dealing with bipolar trauma and mental health frailty that she stayed in character for months during filming

'That commitment is something you rarely see in this business. It was her process and was breathtaking to watch. It is a very intimate portrayal, which will resonate with many people's battle with mental welfare.

'She was focused on mapping out a complex human being, battling grief, long-term trauma and a desire to find a soul mate.

'Throw in the bipolar issues and you have one hell of an acting task. She pushed herself to the extreme effectively living in the mindset of this multi faceted personality,'  The pop star also had to balance that character development with the challenge of singing musical numbers with the undertones of menace.

'Gaga famously spoke Italian and acted like Patrizia Gucci for House Of Gucci for around a year, but this time it's next level stuff. People are going to be utterly shocked and impressed. This is the type of effort which is Oscar-worthy.'

A fresh portray: One film insider exclusively told DailyMail.com that Gaga vowed to deliver a more multi-layered Quinn , rather than the cartoonish portrayal seen in Margot Robbie’s recent portrayals    :omg:

I don’t care what anyone says. Gaga is one of the last real superstars alive today. No one puts in the level of effort she does to literally every piece of art she makes. She gives 110% to literally everything, and she truly is the most versatile artist alive. It is nearly impossible for me to try and think of a more talented human than her.
