Feels Good!, Pearls, Beautiful People and Freak Me Now but most of the other ones are just ok or a bit under-par. The up-tempo ones are where she really shines, the slower ones are rather forgettable, I like the lyrics a lot of the time but they're let down by the beat. She built on a lot of WYP which I can appreciate but it's not present on every track. But I like how she really embodied that old school sound that's so difficult to replicate in the modern age. The album is clearly so short so she can put out a deluxe edition later but artists need to stop doing that to fans and just give us all the options upon initial release. Artists now are deliberately holding stuff back just so they can re-release later and they really shouldn't do it for back-to-back albums and if they put out all the good tracks initially, they could get better album review scores. And can we talk about how Jessie really needs more promotion? Her fanbase is so small and niche and it's like most people aren't aware she exists. Her voice is getting better with time and she could give great live performances. I'm amazed she isn't getting slots on Strictly Come Dancing nor are they dancing to her songs, I could imagine a professional dancers routine to some of these news songs. It's shocking that she's won basically no awards, she's never won so much as a BRIT award. With an album currently ranked 89 on MC, she needs Grammy recognition but it's so hard to get noticed by them if you're non-American unless you're a major superstar. Head Empty 24,325 Posted May 1, 2023 Share Posted May 1, 2023 I love it. So far Pearls and Free Yourself remain my favorites, but it's a great album to replay in full. Even though the songs are very similar in overall production, each one surprises me in different ways. My only complaint would be that Lighting deserves a better final chorus.
