It sucks cuz actual good country artists still don’t get as much recognition anymore compared to what they did like Chris Stapleton. Dudes been open about supporting progressive movements and such and the country scene just kinda threw him away bc of that from what I’ve seen.

Chris Stapleton is a fantastic artist, one of the few authentic country stars in the business these days, although his brand of country is more blues focused than traditional country. If I am gonna listen to country it tends to be the oldies like Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, George Jones, Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard.

Country music made a near fatal mistake when it kicked out its best band, The Chicks, for speaking out against the Iraq war. From there the trend has been downhill and has shifted towards “patriotic” right wing alcoholic bros. That was 2003. If you don’t know what happened to them I’d recommend the documentary Shut Up And Sing
