American Idol producers are reportedly 'rattled' by judge Katy Perry's behavior this season.

Fans have slammed the judge throughout the season, and a source called her comments to contestants "rude and condescending."

Sources revealed exclusively to Radar that producers are taking note of the judge's behavior, with an insider saying: "Producers are so rattled by Katy's behavior they're considering replacing her to keep the audience happy."
Katy's cringeworthy comments have "got people behind the scenes wondering if she is past her expiration date," scoffed one insider.

Notable contestant Sara Beth Lieb quit the show during Hollywood Week after fans called Katy out for "mom-shaming" her.

In a TikTok video posted after her viral audition, Sarah addressed the incident and said: "I mean it was embarrassing to have that on TV and it was hurtful and you know, that's that."

I guess being condescending is reserved for the male judges

They’re pulling a Natalia Kills on her. A majority of viewers are complaining and, instead of owning up to the fact they’re directing her to be a new Simon, they’re chickenshit backing down with their tails between their legs and pulling the “uwu she’s so meannnn, we’re sowwy for exposing our audience to thissss” card because everyone has airtight NDAs and it’s all about saving face.

I'm shook a contestant left the show bc of her! A once in a lifetime chance! I agree it's very obvious Simon can be super nasty and people laugh but it's not like people love Simon lol they never have.

She went too far when she said about the contestant laying on her back (mom Shaming) - but yes there would be misogyny at play

I think it's cancel culture that show producers is afraid if. Anyone cannot build image or fame from being condescending anymore these days.
Simon was already established that image way before this happen, so people kind accept that he's a jerk by now. Not the same case as much as we want to compare the two.

I just saw the clip and i felt so uncomfortable watching it, and im not defending simon or anything, he was an a-hole, but most of the time those were sketches, and if they were not, you kinda agreed with him with what he was saying because the contestants were actually BAD, plus he had fame of being a d*ck. And even when katy pulls a simon on other people, you agree with her too because they are actually bad, but this girl was sweet, she was nervous, and sang really good, and it was not only the mom-shaming part, that was just the beginning of the video, katy kinda went hard on her WHILE she was singing, AFTER she was done singing, then again while voting, and continued AFTER she got her golden ticket, like wtf

Now, i have to agree a bit with what katy was saying, there are other people who getting that golden ticket is THEIR DREAM, but i think that in that case you can address this in two ways, 1 being nice, 2 not necessarily nice but straight to the point, instead she actually took a sarcastic/mean approach.

So I agree why people are upset, there are plenty of opportunities where both male/female judges are mean but nobody says anything because they actually are right, but when you are mean to a sweet girl, who sings good and not deserve that treatment theyre gonna react whether youre a female or male judge, so im not really sure if misogyny plays a role here. Even when britney was mean on the x factor nobody said anything, those contestants were actually bad.

Besides, I dont think even simon could get away with stuff like that now, when he was on american idol there wasnt social media so he could basically say whatever he wanted without being scrutinized, people just hated him and thats all they could do, there wasnt cancel culture. Thats probably why he doesnt play the role of the a-hole anymore on AGT.

Reality TV has changed A LOT since the old Idol days. None of that would fly now. Reality TV formats have failed to innovate to audience's changing tastes. The whole judge concept was used  to create drama and traumatize the contestants. Now people want kinder TV. Lizzo's show was a great example of a reality show made for now. Compassionate and uplifting. That's why it won the Emmy.

This is literally so dumb, Katy’s joke was in poor taste but how did that one comment escalate into this entire drama lol, I’m sorry but Americans are way too sensitive and the sheep mentality to cancel people just because they have nothing else better going on in their own life is ridiculous.
