It was rehearsed for Coachella! She ended up not performing it for some reason

wasn't there also a rumour that a bunch of songs were "coded" into the JWT stage or something?

Tbh, I’m going to say who cares (not to be sassy to any of you!), only saying it because this is still one of Gaga’s most important songs to me. I’ve always related to it, and it brings back some really amazing memories. If you’re from NYC, especially if you’re an artist, it’s heavy. But I think that isolates it from a lot of people.

I think it was just over-saturation at that point. I remember it well. And also…the radio edit was trash!

Yes! A couple accounts posted in between legs in fall 2017 that the tour had like 10+ that were rehearsed/programmed into the stage for her to throw in at any given moment but due to the complexity of the stage it was unlikely that any of them would be/ could be easily thrown in somewhere. The songs I remember from the list were

Sinner’s Prayer

Just Another Day

Dance In the Dark

Hair

Marry The Night

Judas

Black Jesus + Amen Fashion

Venus

G.U.Y.

I love BJ + AF and would have loved if we had had a random performance of it. Same for Venus, G.U.Y., and Judas

I remember playing FarmVille like crazy to unlock the song before release.

Oh those GagaVille days...

Long bizarre video, she overexposed herself, the song could have been shorter and after Judas, it looked like another Illuminati devil worshiping song.

The song, especially the last minute of it, gives me a serious headache, too many things are going on there :air:

I do not agree, gaga, is the only pop artist that conforms to pop culture, and makes music anyone can listen to, that you can go deeper in to the meaning of the lyrics and it takes you to another level, those words are not surface level, thus the video was never going to be surface level

Because Judas happened. Judas being released as a single is what kind of caused her eventually decline with the GP. That and the overexposure didn’t help.

I think if Marry The Night was released earlier and Judas later on might’ve helped a lot better.

Honestly, Judas should’ve never been released as a single. I wouldn’t mind if it never was released at all - it’s just a pale copy of Bad Romance.

Back then, it was trendy to release new singles that copied your previous work (Kesha, Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber, etc.)

Noir

it didn't flop, it was the fifth single from an already mega-successful album. It charted in top 40, we should be happy and move on.

Yes agree, she went crazy with BTW then wanted to go "crazier" with Judas, it was too much and GP just rolled their eyes after that. What she shouldve done is toned it down without risking artistic integrity, sort of like Madonna did with True Blue after LAV.

And yes MTN shouldve been released earlier and Judas later. This is how I envision  the era went :

1. BTW (February 2011)-SMASH#1!!!

2. MTN (April 2011)- Guaranteed #1-2 SMASH!!! Fresh and explosive (but radio friendly) enough for success!

05/23/11: Album Release- NO promo singles, 3rd single will be determined by which song on the album gains more traction which goes to...

3. You And I (June 2011)- C'mon, this song was the most popular after álbum release, and if released earlier, it would give Gaga a "new" look and been known by more people. Performed at the VMA's and be a #1-3HIT!!!

4. TEOG (September 2011)- This song is upbeat and would give a lot of momentum+ album seller towards the end of the year. A new sound, somewhat tame, but enjoyable! Great and happy track for the holidays and end of year festivities! Would hit mid Top 10 and last into the New Year!

5. Judas( January 2012)- After the huge success of the previous singles, Gaga and team release the fan- favorite and RedOne produced track which is like a throwback to her previous hits. It gives the era some more attention (and controversy) in the first quarter of 2012 and hype for the tour! It lands in the Top 20 and is that "edgy" kinda track that goes viral! Perfect end to the era!
