DJWS understood the assignment:tony: The synths that respond to Gaga’s lyrics, the drums, the guitar during the chorus. And the release to the outro. Really one of her best produced songs. It’s also nice to hear Gaga on a more personal track, I remember someone talking about how Gaga's songwriting usually focuses on emotion / feeling but here we get a lot of very person references, giving Lana vibes.

It’s a good song from the ARTPOP era but is quite mediocre amongst Gaga’s whole discography.  The outro is brilliant but the rest of the song lyrically could do with some work.

I also can’t unhear “It’s SNOT” :icant:

It still sounds unfinished to me but the chorus is great

It's a shame the song didn't make the final cut... It's a shame there is no ARTPOP deluxe with bonus tracks beside that special edition or delux with the SwineFest DVD

I love it so much, can't believe it didn't make the cut but glad she leaked it, a nice gift to fans.

I still wonder the lore behind it tbh, didn’t she share it with a fan and then they leaked it? It’s also crazy because we have a few versions and the stems, surely she didn’t leak all of those too? Makes me wonder even if she didn’t share it when it would’ve leaked.

If my memory serves correctly - it leaked here after the mods shared it amongst themselves and then they blamed an ex-mod (her name was Dirkje or something) who has now left.  Pretty sure Gaga wanted it out though, it all felt a bit too stunty and she’s obviously acknowledged the song by performing it acapella at the artRAVE.

I'm also curious to know these things, stuff from behind the scenes while creating an album. Also people saying it's a bad song because it's unreleased need to remember that Gaga and Paul at some point didn't even plan to include Applause on the album, it was Troy's idea.

Such an iconic moment when she sang it, and was basically like “yeah sorry if you don’t know this one but the people in the front do” lol

Tbh a lot of her songs start that way and then as they get refined they lose it. Ever heard the first versions of gypsy? They’re SUPER personal and specific. I wish she’d do some more of that sometimes; she paints pictures really well lyrically when she just lets her storytelling shine

That’s true. I’d really love to hear some more personal and storytelling lyrics. It’s like that with Hallelujah too.
