while I really want to sit here and say River should've been a hit, it makes sense that this didn't smash.

it's too gay for the locals, Flowers is super safe and pedestrian but a decently written pop song that connects easily with audiences.

Jaded should've been the 2nd single, it builds upon Miley's genre-crossover appeal and shows off her vocals. hopefully it does well on radio, I could see it making it in the top 10.

It is so go an amazing song, but I do also get it. It’s a great bop but it doesn’t match flowers and I think jaded will fare much bettet

I think the thing is that FN started out with very little attention/steam after DSN and it took a while for other songs to start catching on with really hard dedication and hard work from Dua.(it was flopping pretty hard for a little bit) Not necessarily saying this album would be that successful, but it’s entirely possible she could turn out another hit or two.

Flowers is way more GP and radio friendly than River, it's not a surprise that it's nowhere near as big. Time to move on to Jaded.

Jaded deserves the single treatment. It should’ve been the second single, as much as I bop to River.

River had no chance with Flowers still dominating. I think she should release Jaded as the third single after Flowers has died down a bit.

It was released this week! lol.  But yeah all the comments about "Jaded" should've been second single.  Meh.  I see "River" as a buffer that has allowed "Flowers" to begin to calm down.  (Yes, it's STILL #1 on pop radio, but it's starting to simmer down.)  I don't think "River" was the huge disaster some people made it out to be; no one really noticed it.  And if "Jaded" was released any sooner, I think it would've had a worse chance of becoming a hit.  The timing of everything is just fine, in my opinion.

Same! I never liked any of Miley's other albums much. I tried, but never got past a second playthrough for all of them. This album, however, plays on repeat with Melanie Martinez's Portals album. 

I personally love Thousand Miles, Handstand, Wildcard, Violet Chemistry and Muddy Feet a lot. But the whole album is so good!

I think River should've been saved as a summer single and Jaded should've been next. It's still trending because of the backyard sessions.

Flowers is such a generic song I can't believe it got the hype and charts that it did. The baseline sounds like a Circles rip off. And we know she took the chorus melody from Bruno Mars. I am happy that she is having success though, love her as an artist.
