CCSir 410 Posted April 18, 2023 Share Posted April 18, 2023 Haven't followed the controversy described above, but I just watched the whole video and I have to say, this was one SOLID video essay. Her conclusion in particular was very powerful. JK Rowling's comments are so problematic and 100% deserve the backlash, but Contra hits the bullseye when she says the real problem is the powerful patriarchy that will ultimately legislate against trans rights. The "concerned mom" façade used as the face of the opponent in SO MANY human rights movement is very convenient for the powerful white men to hide behind. You can possibly be trans and not have gender dysphoria, but also, gender dysphoria is a real thing that some trans people experience. This is my understanding on it.. I believe that trans people suffer from transphobia and the pressure to pass or fit in but I think gender dysphoria is a made up thing by cis doctors, I know they were just trying to understand us back then.
