He definitely had some sort of "shares" or investment in her career though. I suppose I mean that, because Akon was extremely HUGE at that time (where as those who discovered her were maybe not as in the spotlight?) just having a name like Akon support this young artist at that time definitely helped her credibility in terms of the general public, which catapulted her to take their breath away with her art, literally. Last year Gaga hosted Elton's Oscar viewing party. Don't forget that Elton praised Dua Lipa for a reason at the time, their collab became a big hit. She made Interscope put Semi Precious Weapons (Justin Tranter) and Lady Starlight as her opening acts to give them exposure in their music careers.
