TW: Gruesome details/description in this article
----------

"An appalling video emerged Tuesday showing what appears to be a Russian soldier savagely beheading a Ukrainian prisoner of war with a knife, leading Kyiv to compare Vladimir Putin’s regime to ISIS.

The footage, which has been circulating on pro-Russian Telegram channels, shows an apparent Russian serviceman slicing into the neck of a captive wearing a yellow armband associated with Ukrainian forces.

The unidentified victim is still alive at the start of the decapitation and is heard begging: “It hurts, stop.”

The executioner’s comrades cheer him on in the background, urging him to “f—ing cut it, break the spine! What, have you never cut off heads before?”

I… genuinely don’t know why I clicked in here. I feel kinda sick. Rest in peace

The description alone troubles me, hence why the TW. Like imagining him saying those words. Gosh some people are just monsters.

Honestly… I really believe there’s good inside of many people. But it’s hard to find it with individuals who can be so heartless and cruel like that. This reminds me of ISIS.

Russian military operating at the same level as terrorists. It’s psychotic. The standards are low for this supposedly civilized country.

Sad, and sad for the Russian citizens that have been duped into their propaganda and don't think anything wrong with the Ukraine invasion

Uncensored? I'd never watch that, I feel like I already have PTSD from some things I saw out of Ukraine.

I saw a censored version circulating which is still horrific.

Told them to put it away and that watching videos like that aren’t healthy for their brains. Unfortunately there’s no consequences at my school for anything because parents and administrators don’t care about student misbehavior so that’s about all I can do. No detention or ISS at my school, even if students get in physical fights. Welcome to being a teacher in the 21st century :spin:

Tbh, to play devils advocate here, I grew up in the era of shock videos and such. I watch them from time to time (mainly Reddit NSFL) because I wanna get into a certain field in the future and I gotta kinda desensitize myself to that stuff if I wanna work in that field (crazy lol) but adding on some weird sentiments I noticed from at least 80% of those in the communities that share those stuff, it’s somehow a weird release for them?

Ive met a good few people who watch them bc they remind themselves of their mortality and it has been something that keeps them from self-unaliving and helps their depression which is really interesting. It’s a crazy idea but it’s really interesting how many people watch it to basically cope with mental illness. And it’s not even that they get satisfaction or a weird gratification from it, it’s just morbid curiosity on the human body and things that happen around the world. It’s like true crime but in your face.

not to mention I’ve actually caught myself a few times kinda checking myself in situations that could’ve landed me in bad moments. Almost got hit by a car while walking back from school one time and kinda caught myself bc of stuff I’ve seen from those incidents, alongside kinda keeping a mindset of what to do just in case of this or that (literally prevented from cracking my head open cuz I made this plan of what to do if I slipped in the shower cuz I have a REALLY sharp edge)

its weird to explain all this Lowkey but it’s interesting to think about.

The worst is I bet half these dudes doing it are on purpose using dull knives to prolong it. The Russian soldiers are BRUTAL. I’ve seen some bad stuff from the early-mid 2000’s of stuff they would do and yikes
