First and foremost, the EU and the rest of the European countries should reduce their dependency on China. The United States is helping European countries with their support of Ukraine, so I don’t agree with Macron.

the us wasn't dragged into anything. in both world wars they waited until it actually affected them to join. agreed when it comes to leaving nato if you don't want to be dependent on the us, but it's a lie that we ever 'dragged' the us into anything.

I disagree with his messaging. Europe has a very advanced military  and economy but also an aging population and a stagnant economic growth compared to the developing world. With Merkel and the UK out of the picture, it really benefits his own career to be the icon for Europe and its values. So I sense he’s doing this for himself.

He’s right that Europe needs to step up with self-sufficiency, the Ukraine war really caught us off guard with energy and how we finance our militaries. 

But the US, for all its challenges, is the best ally for Europe and generally contributes more good than bad to the world, especially when compared with alternative world powers like China, Russia or even India.

Europe didn't drag the US into anything. It's the US who uses Europe as its playground and they are the ones who are trying to push Europeans to conform and do America's bidding abroad *cough* bombing nordstream 2 *cough*.

I completely agree that the EU should become more self sufficient and stop relying so much on the US. It will literally hinder progress overseas.
