Gaga’s lack of female collaborators, especially in the production and songwriting department? Like most of her strong work relationships over the years are with men (RedOne, DJWS, Mark Ronson, BloodPop), and the few we’ve seen her have with women (Diane, Hillary) have had some interesting moments… Obviously at the end of the day what’s important is that she gets along with whoever she works with regardless of their gender, it’s just kinda shocking to see the lack of women in her album credits compared to her peers. And she also always brings up how it’s hard to find good hearted male collaborators (like oh, Mark is great because he’s not like other men in the studio), I’d only assume one way to avoid that issue is just by making music with women? Idk, sometimes I wonder if there’s a dynamic she prefers in the studio. It doesn’t really matter to me, but I’m curious what you think.

From what I've seen she has a mix of both male and female collaborators.

Sure, no female has executive produced an album, however we were close to Gaga X SOPHIE working together more which makes me think she's open to the idea.

I'm not really bothered by it because at the end of the day Gaga produces quality, and I don't feel like her music is missing anything substantial, but I suppose some more female input on the production side would be nice to see.

The melody that you choose can rescue you ♥

Yeah have I thought about it, and I hope she'll work with more women. I wonder if it's hard to find female producers?

There are way less female producers out there, particularly if we're talking mainstream producers. I never thought about it and it doesn't bother me at all. If she decides to work with certain producers, it means she likes them/their work and that's the most important.

I see this as a music industry problem (btw there are few women in many other industries too), not Gaga's personal problem.

I've thought about this too. For someone who claims to be a feminist and such a strong supporter of women, you'd think Gaga would want to work with more women. Yes, I know high profile female songwriters and producers can grow thin on the ground but I'm just talking about female duets at this point. Beyonce, Florence, Ariana and Blackpink remain the only females she's ever featured on her work and over 6 albums, that's quite something. I mean, someone of her status can get anyone she wants on her music, yet she prefers to seek out men to work with the vast majority of the time. I know a lot of men inspire her and she naturally wants to work with them but she must have a lot of women she wants to work with, surely? Maybe her beef with Madonna affected her a bit and it made her a bit mistrustful of her female peers? But if anything, males in the industry have treated her worse and done more damage to her image, so...Ultimately, as long as the music's good, I don't mind, but I can't think why there wouldn't be more of a 50/50 split in an industry like music, where it's not difficult to find women to work with.

tbh it just seems gaga works with whoever understands her vision best instead of selecting people of certain demographics for brownie points, it's not her fault they happen to be mainly men

mother, what must i do?
