Can I perform Gaga’s unreleased songs in drag at the club?

Hi all!! Does anybody have any info regarding possibly performing Gaga’s old OLD (like 2006-2007, Retrosexual, Vanity, Panty Party, etc) unreleased songs IN DRAG at a small Virginian gay club? Or even at a larger club in Richmond? LOL, like, I understand that copyright is a thing, but would I be sued if I performed and didn’t ask for legal permission? Like can I do it if I don’t make any money? Can I make money for lip syncing to an unreleased bop?

Ask for forgiveness not permission

Kinda my thoughts exactly!! And I think Gaga would appreciate her early bops being celebrated? 🧐

technically there is such thing as performance copyright but that comes into play if you are profiting from the performance. that being said, like everyone else has mentioned, the chance of thing being an issue is slim. I say give her unreleased the recognition it deserves! what song were you considering?

Isn’t it just as illegal to perform her released material without permission? As others stated, I don’t think it matters tbh. I doubt they’d come after you for it.

I think if it was Stupid Love the month before it came out it would be a little messy, but something like No Way I don't think anyone will care

"Unreleased" has no legal meaning. So the question is just, can you cover her songs without permission? And the answer is, yes. You'd just have to pay for a compulsory license.

In practice, it seems unlikely that anyone relevant will ever find out, much less come after you.
