Dennis 8,391
If you live in the U.S, unless you have more than 250K+ in the bank, you shouldn't honestly worry. Because your first 250K are always insured.

I just recently learned that it's only $100,000 in Canada And I was gonna be like, lol, not that that affects me either, but then I remembered my husbands RRSP I'm not actually worried, we bank with a major bank and if it failed I can't imagine what else would be going on, but still, it's not something I'd literally ever considered before

Summoning @Economy Some banks who did not anticipate such rapid rising rates took big losses as they structured borrowing at short term rates (which shot up) and lent at long term rates or invested in long term fixed income I do know America's bank failure wasn't a typical bank tho. It was more exposed to the tech sector which has been the hardest hit so... A failure by a silicon valley bank does not necessarily mean the entire US banking system is repeating 2008 all over again... Plus the US banking system is slightly more regulated than before 2008 It is to be expected that in a time of financial and economic stress a few companies will fail even big ones. It may or may not speak to a trend coming. Guess we will have to wait and see
