Hi monsters!

Its been quite a struggle getting this film on youtube, but I have finally get to share this with you all! The Chromatica Ball Film, edited by me. As always, I have made a great effort to make sure we get a decent edit of the film and as we still have yet to hear from Gaga about the official film, i hope this can satisfy our need to relive this show!

Please comment and share with your fellow monster friends! We will soon be watching this together too!

Thank you!
Ive watched the ArtRave so many times, I’m planing on doing the same with TCB 💜

(but why brutality? To my knowledge it’s „Brutalism“ which comes from the French word for concrete, so nothing violent about that 😅

edit: she said it herself… which is a little silly haha)

On the first date Gaga posted a picture of the stage saying “welcome to my museum of brutality”, hence the name!

Descending from the modernist movement, brutalism is said to be a reaction against the nostalgia of architecture in the 1940s. Derived from the Swedish phrase nybrutalism, the term "new brutalism" was first used by British architects Alison and Peter Smithson for their pioneering approach to design. The style was further popularised in a 1955 essay by architectural critic Reyner Banham, who also associated the movement with the French phrases béton brut ("raw concrete") and art brut ("raw art").

The word existed before the French connection, and was meant to imply a "brutal" approach and aesthetic - the opposite of the more romantic and traditional design that came before it.

Brutalist architecture is a movement in architecture that flourished from the 1950s to the mid-1970s, descending from the modernist architectural movement of the early 20th century. The term does not derive from the word "brutal," but originates from the French béton brut, or "raw concrete," a term used by Le Corbusier to describe his choice of material.  British architectural critic Reyner Banham adapted the term into "brutalism" (originally "New Brutalism") to identify the emerging style. [...] The term "brutalism" was originally coined by the Swedish architect Hans Asplund to describe Villa Göth in Uppsala, designed in 1949 by his contemporaries Bengt Edman and Lennart Holm. He originally used the Swedish-language term nybrutalism (new brutalism), which was picked up by a group of visiting English architects, including Michael Ventris." (http://brutalism.online/brutalism)

I would very much (friendly) argue about this more, but I dont think its the right place here haha. Anyway, thank you for the input with Hans Asplund, I didn't knew he mentioned it first. Non the less, "brutal" translates to "brutalt" in swedish which shows that "nybrutalsim" is derived from the english "brutalism" which then again shows that it comes from the english adaptation from "bèton brut", since the noun of "brutal" in english is "brutality" and not brutalism.

I think it was designed as a double meaning.  Brutalism is a form of architecture.  However, the show is about “brutality,” the pain and trauma Gaga has endured.

Yeah I think it has to do with how the light is received by your phone. With so many spotlights going off sometimes the screens black out. Its a shame no one recorded the side screens playing the show, but the other footage was great too
