Gaga's accent in Joker

I know the movies is a loooong time away, but has anyone else found themselves wondering about her accent/voice in the movie??

I'm sure she will have the classic Brooklyn accent, which wouldn't be hard for Gaga to do! We know why 

But do you think she will raise the pitch of her voice to be more like the traditional characterisations of Harley Quinn? Given that her natural voice is deeper. Or do you think that they will change things up? Considering how they really reimagined the Joker in the first movie

I'm so curious about this small detail  

All I know is we're gonna be hearing BrooklynGa in her upcoming press interviews and I'm here for it

She already has kind of a New Yawker style accent, even tho she grew up in Manhattan lol, maybe because her parents sort of do? It was defn. stronger when she first came on the scene, tho. I hope she keeps it and doesn't exaggerate it tbh....

If we go by the original cartoon, Harley's accent is some kind of a Brooklyn + Yiddish sound mix, because she's Jewish so they wanted to give her the Jewish from Brooklyn kind of accent. the Jewishness in the accent is pretty absent in the live action and the recent cartoon, it's a bit out of character I would say, so I hope they will come back to the roots of Harley in Joker 2

i believe we will be able to tell where she's from, but the accent will not be exaggerated in a caricature type of way. i don't expect it to be overtly outrageous in the forms we've heard it in. this is going to be something specific to this version of Harley in this film. idk just a sense

I've never really given much thought to what accent she'll have in the movie. I think she's just going to use her normal voice tbh. Joaquin didn't really change his voice for the role, so I imagine that Gaga wouldn't really either. Also, this version of the Joker/Harley is much more grounded and realistic, so I definitely wouldn't expect an accent like Margot's or anyone else who voiced the character.

I hope not!

Joker really differentiated itself from other Batman universe movies. It's purely a drama, not a superhero movie, so Gaga's deeper, more dramatic, theatrical voice would fit well.

If she tried to imitate that "MISTAH JAAAY" voice, I fear it'd just sound like her SNL skit voice where we got this emote from:

I think her voice will be what it normally is then she'll put on her jazz affectation for the music which kinda leans on her new york accent a little harder bc that'll be where a lot of the theater is, i imagine.

She’s playing an older version of the character so a baby voice doesn’t make sense. I think she’ll just use her normal voice and accent.

haven't thought about it- maybe it will get higher as the film progresses/she progresses into madness? but she will also be singing so maybe not really off except the new york accent?
