On 13 February, Romania was stuck by a Magnitude 5.2 earthquake in Oltenia which was followed by a stronger M 5.7 earthquake. This last one apparently had no les than 94 aftershocks.

Constantin Ionescu, director of the INFP, after the "tandem of earthquakes" in Oltenia: "It's a surprise that the area has been activated. It is an area where earthquakes have occurred only very rarely and with small magnitudes," the director general of the National Institute for Earth Physics said on Tuesday afternoon. "We have no casualties and no serious effects, that's important," said Raed Arafat, who said assessments would be made in every county affected by today's earthquake. Source

On an actually even more worrying note, the researcher who predicted the earthquake in Turkey also talked about how Romania is overdue for a Magnitude 7 earthquake in Vrancea (though this shouldn't come as surprise and is common knowledge for Romanians who remember the last one in 1977).

Even in my city it was felt. I got really scared for some minutes.

I live in Moldova and I felt nothing... but if *that one* in Vrancea comes, then it would be different. Although I keep hearing about it since like 2013 and so far nothing :bear:
